Fire 201S 9mm vs Big Bore 44 909 Light Hunter
« on: June 15, 2008, 10:27:29 AM »
Which do you like better and why? I can't decide between the 2. How hard is it to swap out the fill probe for a Foster QD?

In the pictures on PA's website, they look to be the same gun, except for caliber and hooded vs non hooded front sight.

Both work well, both accurate, power edge to the .44

Some 201 {like mine} prefer .359" unsized slugs {if you use slugs} and western 000 @.360" while others will be closer to .355" and use standard 9mm lead. A friend has a 909 and it stacks .454" roundball at 60m andboth of usshot a 6round group@ 60mwith Lee cast 236 grain cowboy slugson a single fill that could be covered with a folded business card.
`
201 shoots 160grain SWC @ ~ +700fps and the 909 shoots 236grain RN @ ~ +700fps for an 80+fpe clear energy advantage to the 909 for about the samesize package.
`
The Airgun Hobby magazinereview of the 909on page 19 of Vol5 #2shows targets, rounds used {exceptthey call236 grain RN cowboy slugs 180grain}and the red dot setup.
`
Bothimpressive rigs, but the 909isbetter suited to medium game hunting than the 201 is, at about the same size and weight.

Darn, just pushed the button on the 909 Light Hunter Combo. Hate when that happens.

And it's backordered. Seems the bipod is out of stock. A buddy of mine told me he wouldn't spend that much on a "pellet gun". He just recently spent $1200.00 on a friggin' crossbow. It's not even as fast as my Barnett Quad 400 and it's 6 times as much as I paid for mine. Go figure.

A buddy that always gives me grief about how muchI spend on bbgunsbought an 'upgraded' AR4 mini {awful lot$ for a tactical .223 anyway}and while he was trying to get the mag latchseated I knocked down all the shotshell hulls on the 50mtarget rack with my ancient .177Diana 38 before he finally got it whupped.

I couldn't quit laughing, but somehow he failed to see the humor . . .

Crossbows and powder burners are nice, but are too expensive to shoot nowadays, due to the cost of bolts and ammo. I have 2 longbows that I've never even shot, partly due to the cost of decent cedar arrows.
But for 3-5 bucks a tin, I can shoot a springer all day long.

I would have bought it from cobra airguns, if they carried it, due to my satisfaction with my 2 purchases from them. I order from them, and they ship to me. Simple, and convenient.
PA had the best price I could find at the present, between the 909LH being on sale, and the 10% off coupon I had. Now I gotta call them tomorrow and tell them to send everything but the bipod and just send the bipod when it comes in. I have that same bipod already. I bought it to put on my B30-1 but haven't done it yet.

My rifle/scope/rings/case are on the way. The bipod is on backorder until 6-27-07(hopefully).
Can I order the BGMF QD fittings directly from the website, or do I have to call him on the phone?
I may save up and buy the 9MM 201s in addition to the 909. I really want both.  I'd like to make a .410 or 28ga barrel for the 909 to allow use as a shotgun, also.
Thought about trying the CCI .45 Long Colt snakeshot capsules in the 909.

What do you put over the QD nipple to keep dirt out? I like the idea of being able to fill this and my B50 with the same hose/adapter.
