Just out of curiousity.....
« on: June 17, 2008, 02:52:55 AM »
I've been told that all of crosmans springers are manufactured in China, but their pumpers and co2's are still made in the USA. If this is true, is the Super-Streak made abroad too. After the Sierra Pro ordeal, which is a gem now after CDT got a hold of it, I'd be hard pressed to spend that kind of $ on anything made in China. Plus having it tuned afterward,.....that's a lot of $ invested in a rifle. Any comments on this?!? I don't ever plan on purchasing one (probably too big for me), but before investing anymore $  in the air-powered sport, I plan on doing alot more reseach into each additional weapon/product I procure. Thanks, Thomas

i haven't been in the "game" that long but have learned alot being part of this forum.  just about any springer will need a tune. i have $500 springers that have been tuned.  now if you want to buy one that comes "pre-tuned", you're looking at the aa tx200 ( $600) or theoben ( $900+). the bsa supersport and lightning are nice guns around $400 but have a little "twang" to them.   it all depends on how YOU want the gun to perform.  good example: my bsa supersport $400, theoben gas ram conversion and tune by david slade $200, scope & mounts $250, custom walnut stock $300, custom muzzle brake $30.  Now a $400 gun has $1180 in it.  this is an extreme case but i am an extreme type of person and like the "ooh...ahhh" of having a custom gun.  it all depends on what you want the gun to do, what you plan on using it for, if you want the "ooh...ahhh" factor, and how much your pocket can handle.  you can pick up already tuned guns ( be careful who did the tune) usually at a lesser price than a new gun + having it tuned.  this is only my take on this money-grabbing hobby.

Thanks PC, guess I'll be crossing that one off the list!!!! Bhawanna, must be nice having that much dispossable income!!!! LOL's I'm afraid my current finacial scale leans to the sub-$200 range. I am interested in purchasing a .22 springer. Been looking at the Mendoza 200 series. They have the two barrell Beeman combo's at walmart, but my Tuner (CDT) doesn't work on Beemans much?!? I'd be happy getting a used .22 if it was in good condition, preferably tuned, and from a trustworthy seller. Finally got the Sierra Pro and the Marksman 0035 zeroed in yesterday!!! Yippy!!!!!!! My Big-Cat is still "not quite there yet". The GRT-III was a vast improvement, but a tuning would do it a world of good!! I've been reading some threads on filling the stock with foam/Great-Stuff,  and hopefully that will lessen the harsh recoil of it.  We'll see?!?!?! tjk

Cost should be around $120 for a fair to good condition model. I like beaters, 'cuz they offer more options to accessorize . . .

OK Jay, Let me ask a moron question. What's a 'beater'? Did you have that grey gun at Gene's. Don't remember seeing it. Looks like the same barrel as on my BC Gamo. But the rail and safety are a dead give-away to the Dianna's. What's is the dark pic of? The rifle with the wood stock I mean. tjk

You could always get a B30 or a B40 in .22. I've been very pleased with mine.

If you need to stay sub 200 try calling Umarex's gunsmith and see if they have a refurbed 34 in .22. The other problem with the Super Streak is it's another one of those self tune guns. CDT isn't tuning them last I heard.

Yes, I've heard that too. Never really planned on getting one, just wondered where it was made. Who sells the B30/B40's in 22 cal.???? Are they manufactured by Umarex?? I would be satisfied with anything inside the 30 yard range. Like Tea-Cup said, so many guns,...so little time,....and cash!! LOL's tjk

Beater is a cheap used one that needs work.
« Reply #9 on: June 17, 2008, 05:04:36 PM »
Got it for about $100 and worked on it for a while . . . turned out OK, even if it isn't a 'normal' production piece anymore.

The shroud is from AirGunToys and works quite well. Also seems to be quite accurate withseveral pellets. Didn't have it at the GTA shoot, because that one was never slated to be for me, but the current owner does seem to like it.
