Air Wolf Caliber
« on: September 27, 2006, 07:14:29 AM »

.

If the PCP fairy were to leave me something like an Air Wolf, would there be a best caliber for it, and what would I look for in a compatible scope

It shoots .22 almost as fast as .177, so I don't know if something else is a factor. I like .22, because it's easier to handle, and I like the sound it makes when it hits :) , but would consider the wisdom of others in making a choice. I don't want topi$$ off the fairy and askfor both, so I'm wondering what would be best first.

I don't know if I'd be any good at it, but I want to try FT, and I don't know if one caliber or the other would be better for any one of the catagories. If I stink and give up, it will still be a great target and plinking gun. Are there any other AG activities that the gun would fit into?

I hate to make a mistake, as it's easy to see if I'm upset, and the fairy would never let me forget it. :)

Any thoughts?

It won't be your last...:) I have been reading allot about the PCP's and asking allot of questions on mainly PCP forums. Go over to the NZ site and repost what you posted here. Those guys know there PCP's over there and could possibly give you some insite. Not runnin you off..:) Just trying to help you out as much as I know how. Since I do not know squat about PCP's those guys are veterans.. Also the Straightshooters Forum has a bunch of experience over there.

I do know that one thing you need to figurer in, is the decibel levels of some of the PCP's. Straightshooters has a chart that gives the decibel ratings for allot of PCP's.

Keep me posted bud.

I don't have any firsthand experience with FT shooting, but .177 is the most popular caliber.  The smaller projectile gives you just a little bit more room 'round the edges to hit that tiny circle and the slightly flatter tragectory is preffered.

Not claiming to be an expert...just passing on what I've read on the subject.

I agree about the sound level, but the SS chsrt hasn't been updated in quite a while, it seems.

I don't see a lot of tech stuff on the NZ site that would be helpful. They're all torqued off about import problems, it seems, and the usual "hoe big it is..." discussions. :)

.I registered, but haven't gotten my e-mail yet.

There's a "54" site called "PCP the dark side..." that has a lot of pictures...

There doesn't seems to be a Tech-oriented site., but I'll eep looking.

The NZ forum is realitivly new. Those guys had another forum before the NZ forum but it got hacked.. They have lost all of there old posts and have started over.

If you ask a question about any particular model air gun. I guarantee you that you will get an intellegent response or responses. They really do know there air guns and most all of them are avid hunters. They know what is accurate and which air guns to stay away from.

Try and post a question there Ed and you will get a reply.. Don't mention my name or you will get banned....he he he
