I was thinking about making a stock for my Crosman Storm XT, and i was wondering, if you can use just a plain ol' 2x6? if not, a 4x6 should work. I was thinging of adding a little weight, while spicing it up a bit. I could use my neighbors router for the cocking slot, and trigger housing. I probably wont do this for a while, i was just wondering. Thanks.

Yes you can, if for no other reason just for practice. I made one out of a 2x6, plywood works good to, just glue up a few pieces to get the thickness you need.

A "plain old 2X6" may work size-wise, but I'm not too sure if the typical spruce 2X6 has the strength. Spruce is a pretty soft wood and may split when you try to cock the gun. I wouldn't try it with spruce, but Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) might work.
A couple of 1X6 poplar boards glued together to make a 2X6 would work.
I made a stock for my Baikal MP512-M breakbarrel from yellow pine plywood. So far I have not had any trouble.

I was thinking about going with pine for its strength. I'm going to have to do a lot more research though, and make sure i have all the proper tools.

Hey Brody,, Its pretty darn easy to make a custom stock!! All you really need is many years of wood working exp. & LOTS of tools!!LOL!! Of course Im just funnin with Ya Bud!! My only suggestion would be,, start small,, like Pistol grips. I have made several sets myself that came out pretty nice. (Many pics. here of my grips & carbine stocks) I have been working with wood all my life, from Logs (portable Wood Mizer Sawmill) to final form, interior house trim, cabinets, furn, ect. Stock carving is way more than carpentry skills my friend,, it is ART!! I hold the highest respect for my brother wood workers,, comes to mind,, Mike, (Splash) & the other Tim,, Tim,,N) OOPS,, my Buddy Howie down in Fla. carves a mean thumbhole stock as well!! Just get after it Brody,, start with Yellow pine,, Walnut is EXPENSIVE!! Honestly Brody, Im just funnin with Ya,, Its a tough challenge,, I wish you the best. Forgot to mention,,,,, Most of your "practice" woods like SYP, Spruce ect. are "grainy" & do not carve very well, Machine carving & sanding may work,,more importantly these common "practice" woods available from your local home improvement store, are most probly gonna be around 20% moisture content,,You really need a much lower % for gun stocks. (Depending on where you live) Not trying to be a jerk at all Brody,, now that I have "stirred the pot" ,,,, Im shure others here will chime in with helpfull advice for you!!  Tim.

I will have to go to my local stores sometime, and see what the have, and there prices. I think i can manage with the tools i have. I made a knife handle for a blade i found once. It wasnt the prettiest, but it worked. Im kinda going to use the old stock for a pattern, and then just add a thumbhole, and some bulk.

I would use a laminated wood like poplar 3 - 3/4 inch pieces  would probably  work you will end up with 2 1/4 thickness that way You might think about ripping down the thickness for the center piece so it can form the barrel channel this way you have a strieght barrel channel let it sit a little lower than the other 2 pieces so all you need to do is round it out , also plan and see the steps you need to take in your mind before making any cuts the hole project in a project of this type lots of times if you make a cut out of order it prevents you from making a cut some where down the line you sometimes need the part you cut off to be a guide for making a cut.one thing keep the stock in a square shape don't do any tapering till all your inletting and barrel inletting  is  done. part of the inletting can  using your table saw and a laminating router ( a small hand held router like you use for formica ) I also use my deep well sockets wrapped  in sand paper for shaping like the barrel slot.You might find plywood is harder to work because you will be working against end grain. You could look at my fast deer pictures in the bargain gate I just re worked the stock using the factory stock and added some purple heart wood fore arm as well as the a filler on the but and a pistol grip cap as well as re carving it into a monty carlo roll over type stock useing the factory stock howie
