Ranting about AirForce Pump and Pyramid Air
« on: July 01, 2008, 01:39:52 PM »
I recently bought an AirForce pump from Pyramid Air. The first time I used it it would not pump above 1500 psi. Pyramid Air would not take it back, they said to call AirForce directly to get the work done under warranty. ( IMO that is wrong of PA and I will probably not buy anything else there again....end of rant...but they have such a good selection and it is so easy to look around and shop on there site).

I called AirForce and the lady was very polite on the phone, but I waited for two days for 'THE' technician to call me back. Eventually the very polite lady on the phone said to just send the pump to them to get fixed. She said it would be a one to two day turn around.

I did have to pay shipping to airforce ($12). It arrived there three days later, Tuesday last week. Wednesday I called to check on the pump. The very poilte lady said the tech had not been in and it would probably be Thursday before he got a chance to look at it....

Friday I call (late in the day) and the very polite lady tells me that it will be Monday before anyone looks at my pump.....

So today (Tuesday) they have had the pump for over a week without fixing it or sending a replacement. Today on the phone when I called them (for the fourth time) they said my pump would be fixed or a new pump might be in the mail with in the next couple days, but I probably will not see it until next Tuesday or Wednesday. That will make a 3 week turn around time if I get it then.

I have not had a good experience with either PA or Airforce Airguns with this pump.

I ended up spending just under $400 on a SCUBA setup to be able to shot the Talon SS without a pump.....Something I was not planning on doing for six months or so, when I would have been sure that I liked PCPs. Now that I have the SCUBA setup I am not sure if I even really want the pump.

PS. I LOVE the Talon SS that I got to use the pump with.

Most people have a back up pump with a tank so I have been told . I now will have two pumps when things get sorted out. One is on its way to Crosman for repair or replacement all shipping cost is on them. And a Axsor that should have made it today but wont be here till tomorrow . And to be safe I will try and get repair kits to fix the pumps my self when the warranty are close to being up . Marvin

Martin, if it was within the first 30days, which I'm sure it was, PA should have replaced the pump, or given a refund, for it being defective. Seems they've been leaving allot to be desired, in the CS department lately. Still hard to beat them, for pellets though, even if they do send the wrong caliber, from time to time.LOL

I have 2 scuba tanks and a AFpump, and i probaly use the pump more to fill my Talon,Disco than the tanks. I make it a habit to refill after 20 shots, just makes the pumping easier,as for the 909s,thats a differant story ,i use the tanks.lol

Got my pump back today and used it once. Pumping is not fun. In fact it it really *&^% hard. If I did not use a fast down stroke which the manual and video say not to use, the pump was lifting my 150 lbs off the ground without putting air in the tank.....so I packed it up and sent it back to PA for a refund. Not that I have all the scuba stuff there is no reason to have to a pump that I will NEVER use.
