Happy Fourth Of July everyone. From the greatest country GOD ever allowed to exist. The United States Of America.
Today was a typical Fourth. Not enough beer. Not enough coals. And stores with too many people with the same problems. I went to the kitchen window and noticed the meanest most ferocious little critter you will ever see in a yard. So I yelled at it, "HEY". And then my wife said, "What" ......................Anyway, after a short discussion on who should go to the store, she left. No sooner then she left, a nutter came down the Oak to investigate the festivities. With a smile on my face, I ran and got the CFX and my tin of gamo hunters that I was practicing with yesterday (and yes the are the 5.6g from Academy Sports). I loaded the rifle inside, then ran to the patio. I didn't see it. My scope was set at 6x, so I scanned the branches just in case( btw, this part felt really good). I see you! The tree rat was back in the oak laying flat on it's stomach on a branch about 6 feet from the trunk. His distance from me was about 18 yards out and about 22 yards up. Of course the height doesn't matter. So I adjusted the scope, it focused in at 26-27 yards on my dial. I took a body shot. I know, I know..... head shot, but I wanted him bad. This will be the Cfx's first Tree Rat and I wanted to ease her into it. The Tree Rat ran the six feet back to the trunk of the oak and fell like a brick. I walked over and sat the CFX next to her kill. And took this pic. That's the exit wound of the gamo hunter pellet 7.56. I should have used CPH's. Oh well. There's plenty more Tree Rats to be found.
