Canada Day and 4th of July harvest
« on: July 05, 2008, 02:49:03 AM »
My Gamo Viper and Whisper were busy over these two national holidays....

The Viper took out one of the grackles posed with it on Canada Day....and the other two on Independence Day.  The Whisper did it's job and nailed a pooping pigeon at my friend's place on Canada Day.  The pigeon was hit with a Gamo Rocket at 7 meters or less....it had no chance.....pop...and a puff of feathers and he/she fell off the roof.  Didn't twitch abit.  His/her mate flew off into the dusk.

One of the grackles was a tough bird....I shot at it and it flew off over a little rise so I couldn't see it.....I thought I had missed completely.  A few minutes later I walked over and saw it laying there dead.  Later when I examined it....I saw a clean pass-through....from ribcage to top of leg.  Another grackle had a broken wing after I shot it....it flopped around abit on the grass.....I walked over and broke it's neck with my foot.  Shots were about 20 meters with  Crosman Wad Cutters.

hehe, you didn't want to waste another good pellet on that Grackle and stepped on its head instead?  To me they are not worthy of touching my shoe.  Only hot lead will do for them  :-)  You must 've broken a little more than a wing if it didn't run away.  With a broken wing they can still outrun us and hide in thick brush.  You probably hit some vitals too.

Good shooting.  That's seems like a good size pigeon!

You're most likely right on that one harry....about hitting something else in addition to the wing.

I popped that grackle in my yard....I scan all over before I take any shot....some neigbours might not like to see an air rifle in the open.....or even a gun barrel sticking out of a window.  That's why I didn't take a second shot....

And yep....that was a pretty big pigeon....all fattened up....
