HPA RWS 850 scores a G-hog @ 50yds
« on: July 05, 2008, 12:54:54 PM »
No kidding! I have an invasion of groundhogs and since my yard is pretty treeles they are always able to spot me before I get a good shot. Today I spotted a young hog, which I have seen before around my shed. He was roughly 50yds out. I used my only cover - my car. I looked through the scope, he had his "profile" towards me. 2 mildots holdover and Beeman FTS went on it's way. Groundhogs are pretty tough creatures, a lot of times, even when wounded they run into their burrows. This one just plopped down and did not move. I was watching him for a while ready for a follow up shot but it was not needed at all. It truly made my day

Great shot Chris!  Can you send some of your g-hogs my way?  I 'm only about 20mi. away from you :)

Tell us a little about your HPA converted 850 .22.  What kind of power does it have?  I have a stock one but want to put a nice big LDC on it to quiet it down and don't think a bottle will fit after that.

Thank you guys. I was surprised myself how clean this kill was. My HPA conversion puts out just under 700fps with superdomes. recently I started using Beeman FTS that I found even more accurate in this rifle. Haven't chronied them yet, but they seem to pack more punch than superdomes.  I am in process of bringing the rifle closer to 800 fps.
