I just bought a N.I.B. Shadow from Mao-Mart for 59.99!

As you know, these have been on clearance for about a week or so for $99.99

Then, they were $79.99

Now, they're $59.00, at least at the Laguna Niguel,CA Wal-Mart where I got mine.

I went to the closest walmart after reading this and they still had no Shadows (they have had none for about a month.  I drove to the next closest one and they had no more on the shelf but had a floor model that had no fiber on the rear sites and no light shade (the circle thingy) on the front sight and the o ring around the butt near the end piece was old and cracking apart for 74.99. I told them that I was only here because that I had read that someone had bought one for $59.00 and how this one is missing some stuff and after they finally got the Mgr he dropped it to $70 but no returns. I passed on it  because it looked like it had gone through the ringer and according to the guy from sporting goods it had been there for 2 years and I did not have the extra cash to deal with the possibility of there being something wrong with it.  Maybe if it were $59 I would of but I just got a bad feeling about it, but here is where the news comes.  So we all know that the are discontinuing the Shadow from these walmarts but what are they replacing it with?  The Beeman SS100 with Scope Combo for $129.00.  The guy at sporting goods said it had not been there yesterday, but in the spot where the shadows had been was 2 of the SS1000 combo's in the box.  They have always had the beeman pellet traps, but that was it.  Anyways just thought I would let you guys know what I found.  Thanks - Michael

I will keep shopping there while they keep selling 28 gauge shotshells, Federal 12 gauge promo packs, and the Crosman pellets I like to shoot.

Since that stuff is going away, anyway, at least from my local Mao Marts, once it does, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for me to spend another dime of my money there.

Please, Its not my problem if a bisness can't stanf competition. If wal-mart has what i need at a price i can afford i will buy it. Just like any other bisness. Its in my best intrest to buy the best quality to do the job I need done at the best price. Sometimes this means buying the best the market has avaiable. Other times it means buying the cheapest avaiable. Tell you what, You buy where you want to and i will do the same, just stop the preaching.

Nah I'm just tired of hearing about the "evils" of wal-mart from folks who can't compete or otherwise have an ax to grind. If somebody does'nt want to shop walmart thats fine but don't tell me about how they are driving bisness out of town becouse they can't compete in the market.

I tend to agree with one of you, but I think this is an airgun forum so I posted my reply on the walmart section of the forum.

Listen, I own a small business and it has nothing to do with not being able to compete.  I'm competing just fine, thank you.  Its about the fact that they will eventually have a stranglehold on supply (they're already there in some cases) and the demand.  Once they do that America will no longer be the home of the free market economy.

I agree, shop where you want to shop and I'll shop where I want to shop.  Just don't come out whining when all the good paying manufacturing jobs are gone from the USA and when you no longer have a choice as to where to shop.

Now, I'm off my soapbox.  :  )  Or pulpit if you prefer and think I'm preaching!  :   )

I think the subject got alittle out of hand here. The post started out ok but some where along the way it strayed off in a different direction.
