Wax Wound Channel
« on: July 10, 2008, 04:16:56 PM »
Got bored today waiting for my A/C to get fixed in my house so i poured some candle wax into a 3" plastic tube and used it to show the terminal ballistics of a Gamo Hunter pellet fired from my Quest 1000 at 10meters.  Didnt get it center mass (oops) but it looked pretty cool so i thought id share.

Ambient temp was between 90-95 degrees so the wax was fairly soft to better simulate tissue (in my feeble imagination, lol.)
At the widest the cavity measures about 1/2-2/3 inch. The pellet exited and gently bounced off my backstop.

Not too scientific but it shows a pellet doesnt just punch through soft stuff like a pencil.
If you look closely you can see the large impacted area around the entrance as well.
