First Kill

Here's the first kill with the RWS 34.  I was actually out for bunnies but didn't find a one.  This little critter was presenting himself and I couldn't resist.  About 20yrds with a Beeman Ram Jet in .177.

Nice one.

Hope you will find it enjoyable to hunt the little buggers and the RWS 34.

Gene, I really like the 34.  The Panther version wasn't available when I bought mine but for hunting purposes I probably would have chosen the Panther.  The 34 is a bit on the heavy side and also it doesn't have a butt plate, making it a bit worrisome when in the field.

Alas, I may actually sell the 34.  I bought an AF Talon SS and am absolutely loving PCP: quieter, no kick, no problems developing the "hold" required for springers, and deadly accurate.

Have you checked with your local police for any restrictions on the use of your rifle?

Actually, Gene, my advice is to get the Talon SS and then convert it to the Condor powere level if you want to.  The Talon SS in its stock for is really quiet, nearly as quiet as a full on silencer.  If you feel you need the extra power then get the 24" Condor barrel.  It's a five minute swap and gets you nearly the Condor power.  Still think you need more?  Then get the Condor valve and bottle, two more quick swaps that make the Talon into a full fledged Condor.

The advantage of this approach is that its easy to swap back and forth so you can have the short and quiet Talon SS for in town or near neighborhood use, but then swap to the Condor setup for prairiedogs and the like where you need the extra oomph and range.  Two guns for the price of about one and a half guns.  Here's an article that explains some of the options:

Myself, I don't really need more power than the stock Talon SS but I plan on getting an 18" barrel.  That way I get a moderate power increase, still have a reasonably short gun for in the woods, and I can keep it fairly quiet with a simple frame extender.
