Crosman Premier HP's
« on: July 12, 2008, 11:33:51 PM »
Having tried Gamo Hunters, H&N Match wadcutters, and CPHP's in my new .22 caliber BAM B-26, I find the CPHP's work just fine.

Strange that the 500 pellet tins of these CPHP's seem to be a fraction of the cost of the 625 pellet boxes of the "plain" Crosman Premiers. Anyway, these pellets seem to be a low cost option for a decent .22 pellet for just about any brand/source.

Pyramid has them at $7.99, and their buy three get one free, plus the discount code available on this forum will get you 2,000 of these in four screw top tins for about $30 delivered. I just ordered online, and they show in stock.

Seems like one of those cheap but good deals I love to find.

Howie, if your are asking for mine, the major experience I have is with the three types of pellets I described in my own B-26. Based on shooting several other pellet types in my brother's collection, I think the CPHP is pretty darn good, and my guess is that the "Premium" (and I think you mean the differently packaged domed Premier, like this http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/pellet.pl?pellet_id=116) is simply packaged differently and purportedly from the same die. Just based on a close look, they are a bit more consistent, but that consistency is probably lost in the deformation you'd see in shipping and handling. The aerodynamics of the pointed pellets is inferior to the domed ("diabalo") pellet, based on many published reports.

I agree with Jerry, the pointed crosman hunting pellets are not very well balanced in comparision. I had alot of 'key-holing' with them in several of my rifles (.17 and .22), I use cphp's in most of my guns because of their uniforminty, and availibility from wal-mart. Some pellets are hard to find at a local retailler, and leaves you no option but to order them on-line at a premium cost.

I find that Tim at Mac1 has very good prices on all kinds of pellets, and the shipping is usually only about 5 bucks for 4 tins or so. Cheaper than PA for sure. His pellets listed on the web page are lower than what you actually pay as the prices have gone up slightly and he has not updated his website yet.

I picked up 3 tins of Beeman Kodiaks and one of Crow Magnum in .22 with 5 bucks shipping for a total of $30.59

My WM in Dallas does not carry. Walmart.com has the .177 caliber 500 tin for $4.96.

see:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=9222901
They don't seem to have the .22 online.

Still seems to me that Crosman is packaging their .22 pellets 500 per tin, and most others are 200 or 250. Good pellet at a good price, and I have not seen a better price than Pyramid.

Well, Bro, based on my conversation with JoeCuz at Cobra this morning, you may need to stock up on a few .177 pellets before your birthday.  But of course, that will still give me a couple of months to make sure your birthday present is working properly when I get it back from CDT.  Can you say "anticipation"?

Bob Werner has your airgun bro.  It's in good hands.  I told him you wanted the works!  You'd be proud of me, I didn't even touch the rifle!  I don't want to wear off the "new gun smell" before you get to run some of those bargain pellets thru her.

Darn lucky that the ONLY decent pellet offered by Walmart work well in so many guns. About $24 bucks for 2000 of 'em. No shipping costs.

The only .22 I ever see in So Cal Walmart is Daisy Prec. Max, and that is rare. If I ever find the CPHP .22 down here at that price I will buy them all.
