No hop, no flop . . .
« on: July 14, 2008, 11:32:58 PM »
This guy was nibbling on the new sod just down the 8 steps of my back door this morning.  I normally have my air guns put away, but I was shooting the R9GF yesterday and guess what?  It was by the back door with a few .20 cal JSB's near at hand.  He bolted at the first tiny creek of the door knob and I thought he was gone for sure.  But I eased open the door, stepped out onto the top step, and took a quick look.  He had stopped just short of his hedge row at about 10 yards away and cocked his head around to look back at me.  Fatal mistake.  10 yards off hand with the R9, a quick shot at the back of his little bunny head.  Thwack!  No hop, no flop... he just folded over at the spot he was standing.  I didn't touch him for the first picture with the R9GF, but had to check the entry wound to see if my aim was true.  Yes. it was.  And now, off to work.

To throw up, point, and shoot quickly, the R9 is THE gun for me.  One of those intangibles, I guess.  No technical specs will ever describe this quality in a gun and it's likely to be different for every individual.  Shooting off a rest is great for punching paper, and for sniping, but for the back yard varmints, snap shots, standing and shooting off hand tend to be more the norm it seems to me.  The R9 is definitely nice to point and shoot when the package absolutely, positively has to be there on time.

NICE shot Tommy!! Right in the "Ole Fuse Box"!! Yeppers,, No Hop,No Flop!! Most of my lousy shots as of late have been "Boiler Room" shots, resulting in the traditional 4 ft. high back flip followed by a short 10 yrd hop away before taking a lil "Nap"!!LOL!! GREAT post & pics. Tommy,,I think maybe hanging out at the tailgate of my truck at Genes "Chopping" & re-crowning brls. with Roger & I has  turned you into a redneck hunter like us?? He He He He!! Your Buddy,, Tim. P.S. Thanks for your kind offer,, check your mail.
