Took some of the club members out for a shoot the other night and it went very well we shot plenty of possums and their young even took one of the largest possums i have ever shot this thing was heavy big and fat oh and had a baby in its pouch which would have been between 3 & 4 months old.

Always thought you were an ugly blote...:) But guess I was wrong. I showed the wife your kill this morning and she wanted to know who that guy was on the left.... he he .. Well I won't go into what our conversation was after that, but ended up she won...:)

Hey great catch Sean. Dang I wish I could of been there with you good old boys. So you use lights on your guns? How do you strapped them down to the scopes or do you even use scopes?

NZ should fly us yanks in free to help kill the possums..:) Since you are over run with them.. That does look like a big possum though. Ours are not as large as that.

Here's what i use to shoot gene this high powerd mag lite with a special connection for it but to spot them i use a LED head light also in these pix you can see my pet possum hard to believe that enough of these in one large tree will kill that tree they look so cute people say well im going to be starting a large avery sometime so people can  these critters & how much destruction they cause I will try to educate them a little.

Dang Sean, you must eat allot of spinach to be able to hold all that up steady... Yikessssssssss.. You is what we call a corn fed boy..:)

I like the idea of that light above the scope. Wonder if they make one for a smaller, like pin light...:)  But really that is fascinating.

Just think you killed your pet possum's momma and brother the other night.. he he.  So they eat all the foliage from the trees and the trees die?

I found this mount at a local sports shop i think it had been sitting there for a few thousand years cause i went up to the store man who sort of knew me and made him an offer so I swaped a set of weaver scope mounts for it.
Now  keep in mind this set up is an experiment after adding this weight to the scope my shot dropped about 3 inches at 20 meters but fixed that with a bit of an adjustment now my only concern is as the gun recoils this adds a lot of stress on the scope ??? not sure will find out in time though but it works so well as for the weight i dont really mind,  it all weighs about 12 or 13  pounds now but i like it that  way.

PS. Im thinking of having some of these mounts made they wouldnt be to hard.

Thanks for the info Sean. Was there a manufacturers name on the mount? It will be interesting to see how that scope holds up.

      Tac Star makes those mounts. WLSC - 1000 Compact Weapons Light System. They are used for tactical purposes. I have one mounted on a pump shotgun. They come in different sizes. Midsouth sells them. Best of luck...

Hi guys, Greyskull here from NZ. I recognise some of you from  our NZ forum. (I am the bearded one in the middle of the photo)

I go out with Damage on his Possum Safaris regular like now, and the latest night hunt we went on had us shooting as fast as we could load. 45 Possums grounded and plucked, another 15 or so irretrievable due to terrain. (ain't going down a cliff in the dark)

I have tried several lighting methods to date, LED head mounteds, Maglite type baton torches, 3 million candle rechargeables, Hmmmm......not quite right.

I saw this rechargeable for sale at a supercheap store here for $9 NZ. Hacked it about, rewired it and made a brass block with scope rails to fit an upturned scope mount. The picture shows my Possum hunter in .22. Hatsan 60. Custom spot, which with the battery removed to a waist bag weighs nothing at all. A comparable gun mounted spot costs 20 times that here in NZ.
