Yep, he's since posted they are refurbished and will bear the "R" stampings.  I asked "what, then, are demo's?"  When I see demo I assume it's a used demonstrator model, not something returned/repaired.

Gotta be refurbs. I've never purchased one, but have heard a lot of gripes, from people on this forum who have. Nothing like new!!
