Easy, CHEAP Coolant Mist sprayer for the lathe
« on: August 05, 2008, 03:18:13 AM »
Don't have pix of mine because my camera is MIA... BUT, I've been using a "Misty Mate" as a Coolant Mist sprayer on my lathe. Works great and only costs about 10 bucks! I get my Soluable Oil from my welding supply for a couple bucks a quart.

Thanks for the tip Sam. It will come in handy when I get my lathe.

at work on my hein 4 head (mill) I used compressed air through a series of copper tubes to the bit............but I am cutting various plastics and aluminum. I cobbled up the whole system myself from spare parts (valves, adapters, tubing) laying around the shop and it works very well, I mounted it right next to the control panels on each machine. now I adjust the air rate by hand as needed.

Sam:
Thanks for the Misty-Mate tip. What is your source for that little $10 wonder? I could sure use a little one like that.

I got 2 of em at walmart a couple months ago for 10.99 a piece. They work pretty good as long as you mix the soluable oil a little weaker than the instructions say.
