UHMW Plastic... What to do???
« on: August 11, 2008, 02:35:52 AM »
I've got 2 good sized chunks of white UHMW plastic left over from a project at work a while back. I was wondering what this stuff would be good for in an airgun???

It's a bit on the soft side for spring guides. But's it's slicker than Eel Snot and tough as hell to saw through. Flexible enough for Piston Seals or B3 style breach seals maybe???

This stuff is a bit flexible for rear spring guides. It's the white stuff. Not the black.  I've got a piece that's 1/2 x 1/2" square and about 4 inches long and it flexes pretty good.  THat's one of the reasons why I got it. I suggested it as slider material for a few of our high wear converyor beds. They gave me a couple blocks along with the 1/2" sheets. The sheets conformed pretty well to the dished impact areas of the slider beds. THat's why I was thinking more along the lines of piston & breach seals.
