When I choke a barrel......
« Reply #1 on: August 18, 2008, 03:16:50 PM »
....I usually wrap my gorilla gripper around it and squeeze till the lead oozes out.  If it's a large barrel I use two hands.

Tool steel swaging rollers mountedto a lathe tool stand. Hammer forge. Plating.
Probably several others, but it's been quitea long, tiring day . . . without potable running water. Again.

Subject: Re: Barrel Choking TOOL )) you can  make up your oun mind if it is a possible way to make a choke on a rifle barrel it does squeeze the steel down you can mike the difference on the outside of the barrel and I use a tork wrench to control the amt. of pressure . howie

Tool you say? LOL perks my ears right up. Where does one obtain this tool? Do we know the common name for the tool? I believe I might want to add that to my collection if its not too expensive.

I belive mine is the # 3 tool in your catalog and $21.00 is a steel in a marine supplys store they are much higher mine takes the 5/8 inch wrench for tighting  too if you had the tool you could allways make it for a bigger size dia. buy turning it over and makeing the same type opening  as the tool has I needed a odd size for mine once so I did that . howie1a  PS I do have to do the press in 2 steaps since it squeezes the yop and biottom I end up looseing it and turning it 90 deg. then re pressing the barrel so I can get a full circle that is one of the reasons I use a tork wrench also I have been useing 400 inch lbs as my tork setting. howie

Next week my new choke blocks will be here. NO ONE has a set like this for Diana Brls. NO BS. I have  the BEST money can buy.  They will be shipped to me tommorow. Perfection takes time. I have ignored this & the other thread pertaining to "Choking" brls.  Of course it only takes a 20 ton press to get 2 thousanths  (All Ya need) for 177 "Thick" Diana brl. Tim.
