I bought one similar around christmas time at walmart for $10.  is light, low powered, and is all I would use to open the ports on a gas valve.  because it is so low powered is much harder to screw up a piece.  I have 3 dremels and have had them "walk" across a surface that I did not want any grinding on and ruin the part.  I figured the case was just about worth the 10, and if no good could toss it.    john

Yep....A Dremel tool can be a great asset but at the same time, a very dangerous tool to use as far as damaging something. A lot of care needs to be taken when using one or the item being worked on can be instant junk in many cases....I know...lol...

I have three of them one cost $300.00 & the other two cost $150.00 each but i use them for NZ Native bone carving as as wood carving & are all professoinal tools.
Like Cahrlie said you have to be so cearfull when using them not sure i would use one on an Airgun unless it was to polish cause some of those bits will eat steel up in an instant Mine have extreme RPM's & could really DAMAGE your gun if you were to slip would be ok to use on low revs though.

I don't think this is the really crappy one...

Harbor Freight sells one for about $15 with a bunch of attachments, and frequently puts it on sale for $8. It's the one with the wall-socket transformer. I've got one, and no, THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE.

This is a fairly heavy tool, variable speed, and it really has plenty of torque... it keeps its speed up well even when really leaning into it. I haven't had it long enough to comment on its long-term durability, but if it has any useful life at all it's a heck of a tool for the money.

I've had a Foredom[sp?] RS for 30 years, with a regular, flex-head, and dental handpieces.

The foot throttle is great for precision grinding. Used to do hippie-dippie jewelery and such, along with repair work.

I have a full set of diamond and dental bits for it, along with an engraving tool. Still use it from time to time.

Real timesaver. Use it real slow when you need to be careful.

This motor cost about $250 long ago, as the handpieces even more. Well worth it.

I used it to grind out the ruined threads in the front 1/4" of a Gamo breach block. It did very well, plenty of torque. And the stones that came with it held up nicely, too.

The only thing is that the nose of it started getting warm. Dunno if it was heat transferred from all the grinding or an iffy bearing at the front.

In any case, it did fine.

Just looking at this thread and wanted to let everyone see what else can be done with a dremel  on glass with the proper bit. This is one a did last year just to see if it would come out ok. I do the glass as a hobby and do birthday cards and other things for people. What do you think?
