Jeff same here. While stalking stalking and waiting all day yesterday for the g-hog to pop his head out I was also looking for a squirrel to make an appearance because well, I just because I feel the Condor is overdue for its first kill, even if it's a little tree rat. I didn't see a squirrel all day. Normally several will pass by or stop to forage on the trees in my back yard or have a little fight between them in the trees on the hill slope, but not yesterday. It wasn't until 6:30 I saw a small one (they probably look tiny to me because I 'm used to looking at g-hogs) when I had put the gun away and had given up. He stopped just 20yds from my window then did some acrobatics and landed on top of the fence. He stopped again a couple of times while walking the entire length of the chain link fence, so after about a minute of watching him I figured maybe I had time to get a gun out of the cabinet but then he hit the ground and ran across the lawn quickly to the oak tree where he retired for the night.
It's strange how it works. When you are intensely looking for them they are nowhere to be found, and when you just glance out the window and you 're not ready or in the hunting mood, there they are posing out in the open.
