Racoon number 6 goes down to the Shadow .20
« on: October 15, 2006, 08:55:47 AM »
Them darn racoons found my bird feeder and suet blocks again they knocked them down two nites in a row. I had to set up my bells to warn me when they came.

This morning about 5:30 the bells atarted to jump around. I cocked the .20 and opened the back door slowly,
I caught the racoon draging off one of the suet blocks she heard the door open and stopped to look back.
She made a big mistake by turning around long enough to zero her in, 25 yards and got her in the left eye, she bounced around for a few seconds and that was it for that racoon.

I just love that .20 conversion that 11.2 fts went through her skull and the pellet was under her skin on the back of her neck behind the ear.

Nice shooting, Rich.  BTW, I REALLY like the look of the long muzzle brake on your Shadow!  Have you thought of doing something similar for a CFX?  I know the cocking lever would be a problem, but I'll bet they'd sell if you could come up with a design.  I'd buy one.  On the 'coon, what pellet was that?  I assume 11.2 fts was supposed to be fpe.  Is that retained energy, i.e. energy at 25 yds?  If so, I'm really impressed.  Maybe I will have to do one of your .20 conversions.  Sure you can't do a CFX barrel :-)?

Dave

PS Not really, my CFX is currently at about 14.5 fpe with Superdomes, and scary accurate.  But it's still a thought.

Hey, 88, Rich makes up those .20 barrels himself.  He also sells them at pretty decent prices, don't know if the Shadow Sport is the same as the Shadow, but Rich would know.  Gene has one, he loves it.

Rich sells the barrels ready to go 88. Look in the classifieds and you will find all his products.. I also have a S1K converted to a .20 cal and it is a sweet shooter.

I have done a long one for the CFX.

Here's one of my CFX's with the longer Muzzle brake, it's hollow with a front chamber and it's 8" long.
The bottom of the brake is open so I can hide as much of the cocking lever .

Beeman 11.2 FTS's  at 815 fps = 16.5 FPE

I sold out of  barrels but have more on the way. I am going to see about fitting it to the CFX.

Shadow Sport has the Plastic barrel  can't  do on that rifle.

The whole barrel assembly and the breach/compression tube is different.

But I do make a Muzzle brake for the Shadow Sport.

The 1250 is made just any other break barrel. The barrel is a 15 mm diameter and screws into the breach block.
Should be no problem making a .20 caliber rifle out of it.

Got it, for some reason fts didn't connect with Beeman.  FTS in the CFX was 839 fps for 14 fpe.  That's assuming 8.9 gr., I'm still not sure what these actually weigh.  The 350 .22 FTS is 14.6 gr., does about 855 fps for 23.5 fpe.  Just for comparison.

That long one on the CFX still doesn't LOOK as long as the one on your Shadow.  Maybe it's the flutes, I don't know.  Thanks.
