Discovery 22 Accuracy
« on: August 28, 2008, 11:58:24 PM »
All:

Finally got my Leapers 3x9-50 Mil-Dot scope in the mail and changed out the broken RWS scope for it.  Zeroed it from about 8m then again at 13m (inside basement, late at night).  Then shot a five string series starting at about 1700 lbs.  This is what I got 0.375 ctc, would have been 0.25 ctc but I had a small flyer.  I had front and rear sand bags for support.  I did  the Lower Link mod on the trigger mechanism a week ago and this really helps the accuracy since I do not have to pull so hard against my thumb behind the trigger now.

I highly recommend the low link mod (drill new 1/8" pivot point hole, 1/4" further out on the lower link) as mentioned in other posts on this forum.

If you have not used the Chairgun software, I highly recommend it too.

See pic if I can figure out how to post it.

Thanks, now I have to put a level on the scope rails, put a 4ft level at 35 yards, then level the scope.  I noticed yesterday that I have some kant issus and my groups at 35 yards are only 0.75" ctc.

Anyone know if the Benjamin Discovery has a choked barrel?

If not, who can choke it for me?

Do your self a favor and do one thing at a time . Get the chant out of the way first . I dough you have a barrel problem at this point . You have not cut the end off as of yet . Also you did not mention how long of a shoot count the 3/4 group was . Pay attention to your fill pressure and sweet spot and shoot count . Marvin

Thanks Marvin, it was a 5-shot string, my standard for testing.

As of yet I have not Chrony'd my shots, I will be doing that.

The crown, on 3x magnifier looks OK, but this is the first I have looked at in detail.  Seems uniform width all the way around.

I think next will be a Super Sear to see if I can get the trigger pull even lighter.

But, as you say, one step at a time.

Thanks Marv.

My wife and I are back from Washington State, we saw Mt Rainier, The Beehive and Levenworth over a long weekend visit - worth going to if you get the chance.

I will probably be starting to work on the Discovery tomorrow to see what happens.

Yes Scott I did:)

Glad it went well sincerely. Did not know someone could post in some elses name. Learn something new every day. As a busted up old tinbender I would never have thought to do that.

Great for the price.  I like it a lot.  You can lower the fill pressure and up the number of shots over a narrow pis-range if you tune it a bit ala. the BAM B-51 tune tips on the yellow forum.
