Quest 1000 help!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: September 01, 2008, 10:10:00 AM »
Well I had to tear down my Quest because Crosman no longer sells just the detent. They sent me a new compression tube with detent installed not bad for 6 bucks but I guess it was that cheap because I waited almost 2 months. Problem I'm getting the spring creak noise when cocking and I'm getting some contact on the tube from the cocking arm. The only thing that was changed the air comression tube all the same internals were used. Where should I look? Thanks in advance.

Surprisingly no it is actually pretty darn straight. I even polished then ends so something went wrong. I guess I'll tear it down this week and check the spring. ??????????

Jason, I'm not positive, but I think there should be a plastic guide on the cocking arm, a small U shaped piece. Take a look at the cocking arm and see if there is a notch in it, if so make a guide to put there, should fix you right up.

Thanks Mike, I did check that and it's there but appears to be touching just forward of that near the piviot point. The spring creak is more anoying than anything else. I guesd it's time to buy a buffing wheel and put it on the grinder.

Mine was doing that too. I ended up making a delrin guide and giving it a little tar. That took almost all of the noise out of it. Good luck. BTW, mine didn't have the plastic friction deal on the cocking linkage like splash was saying. I've seen them on the Gamos though. It wouldn't be hard to make one and would probably help a bit.

I've got access to delrin and tivar but no lathe to turn it. I figured that would be a fix. Thanks Ralph.

I ordered it from Crosman C1K77-014 I think is the part number. I believe it's 15 dollars.

The only downside with Gamo is they don't sell parts. I will be getting a rear custom guide and top hat for her as well as some of my other Crosman guns. Both my Webly Vulcan and my R-9 have custom fitted rear guides and they do make the difference. I guess I need to check the tube again for smoothness.
