Tennessee Mourning Dove season opened yesterday
« on: September 02, 2008, 05:16:09 AM »
Well, I did bring an air rifle to share with my hunting buddies yesterday (R-9 GF) but that was to entertain us with before legal shooting time started at noon.Everyone in my group of 12 hunters was impressed with the great features of this accurate rig as we were shooting bottle caps off water and soda bottles out to 50 yds.I brought a small step ladder with a shooting bag for a makeshift shooting rest.Waay better than trying to shoot off-hand. Well, at noon the shotguns were made ready and the doves were abundant.Got my limit and will fire up the grill today for bacon wrapped dove breasts. Will try a repeat in a few days.Happy hunting to all.Ya'll.

Dove season started here in California on the 1st as well.  I forgot about it and imagine my surprise when I pulll up to one of my favorite squirrel hunting orchards only to find half a dozen 12 guage toting "Larry the cable guys" looking at me.  Imagine THEIR surprise when I pulled out my Air rifle.  One gentleman said, "A Pellet Gun?  You must be good!"  Needless to say, there were no squirrels to be found.
Go git \'em!

Love my RWS 350 Magnum Feuerkraft Pro Compact!

Way to go getting some doves!  bacon wraped birds sounds delicious.  The 2 mourning doves that have a nest in my spruce have disappeared!  But I 've never taken a shot at them all these years.  They figure better safe than sorry.  I don't blame them because I 'm not having good luck with squirrels since the season opened a coule of days ago.

Yup, California Doves opened on the 1st.  Got my limit on opening day... it was fun.  Of course, I couldn't pull it off with the airgun.  Gonna do some Dove sniping this weekend when I get the chance... being that there's only about 10 days left and the doves are spooked now.  They're scared to take flight.  Good huntin btw.
