A challenge to members
« on: September 15, 2008, 08:52:11 AM »
I see the same people post regularly. Let's hear from the 2609 members of the forum:)

See the VETS make cool things and do cool stuff?  Ever want to try something? Big or small, pictures are great! Still working on the picture thing myself. Words will do. Making a cool doodad or been thinking about it? It's fun and there is allot of help here if you get in a bind.

My project:

I have a heck of a time placing pellets in the discovery breach. Too short and I have no mill. Disassembled the rifle to see if the bolt slot can be lengthened to use a wire pellet probe without interfering with other parts? The striker cocking pin does not want to come out without removing or lifting the receiver. will work on the receiver/bolt, what are you working on?

Hey Dave,

I'm sorry to break it to you, but there's really only the two of us here. It's just that I post under a lot of different identities.

 FOOLED YOU!

Also look a thread down,

Tim made a muzzle accessory with commonly available materials and did not need a full machine shop at his elbow. It looks good, and nobody else has one:)

Great post Dave, Thanks for getting us started. Right now I've got a Gamo Sported 500, up on blocks and a QB-88 I've tuned up, that's getting the stock refinished now. I'll post pics of both when their finished, in the Classifieds. Got another project that I'm working on, but it's a secret, for now.

If you tell me will you have to kill me?

Have you had any of the dreaded removing finish then stock crack issues?

I'm glad your wood is still in one piece Mike,

I'll spill the beans. Have some composite stuff leftover from sailboat work and thought to try stock making, some carbon, basalt and FG. The Epoxy will probably go bad if not used anyway. Never tried this before.

I wanted an RWS 34 Meisterschütze Pro Compact .17,7 but just cannot justify the cost. So I have decided to build my own RWS 34 Meisterschütze Pro Compact .177. Should be starting on it some time next week. I plan on doing a complete Super Tune including a JM spring and will make some special pieces to upgrade the internals a bit..:) I have not decided on which scope yet but that can wait for a couple weeks. What I want is accuracy with a smooth tight action, and as little as possible recoil. I am tuning for performance and not high FPS. So this might initial a couple tests before I am done with her...

Well Gene,

You have a very good idea of what you want and where to go with it:)

A handy thing to have.

You are most certainly welcome Tim,

I thank you for showing the folks here that what you want does not have to depend on a machine shop. My wife and I have five children and I absolutely know what it is like to try to do allot with a little.

You did a good job and some other guys out there will try because of what they saw.
