Beeman R9 Goldfinger .22
« on: November 08, 2006, 08:52:22 AM »
I think I've mentioned before that I've always wanted a Beeman R9 Goldfinger, I've been saving my pennies for what seems like eternity to save up to buy one.  I've dragged my wife over to the computer several times so that she could look at the rifle and fall instantly in love with the gun like I have, but of course the picture of that beautiful wood stocked rifle just doesn't have the same effect on her as it does on me, and she usually walks away mumbling something about why in the world would I need another airgun, especially one for $400, and then without words lets me clearly know that I had better not click on the "add to cart" button on that website.  :(

Well, yesterday my wife really surprised me !! My job called me to come in and work a full day of overtime, an event that rarely happens.  I usually don't do overtime if I can help it but I figured the holidays are coming and the extra money would be handy, so I said I'd work.  I told my wife I was going to work a days overtime and she said the most beautiful, and surprising, words I could ever hear..... She said......." Since your giving up your day off to work I want you to go ahead and order that airgun you keep making me look at"..  I was in shock.

Anyway, after making her  repeat her words, I had to make sure it wasn't just a cruel joke, I ran to the computer, whipped out the credit card, went to the BassPro website and ordered the .22 caliber Goldfinger combo with the 3x9x40 scope, which they had just gotten back in stock.   I can't wait to get it.  God I love my wife !!

I keep going to the BassPro website to see if it's been shipped yet.  I must've checked  my Basspro account about a hundred times already   :)

Congrat's! You're going to love that rifle. I have a .22 HW95 Luxus, basically the same without the scope. I'm going to shoot mine right now!

I just got an email from BassPro that my Goldfinger has been shipped.  FEDEX estimates delivery on Nov 15th, can hardly wait.  This has really been a good day cause I also received an email from CABELAS that they shipped the wood stocked Winchester 1000XS combo that I ordered a few days ago.  Now I got 2 guns on the way.  Doesn't get any better than that :)

LOL Jeff, U gonna have so many guns u aint gonna know which one to shoot..:) From what I have read about the Beeman rifles you are gonna love your new Goldfinger. You probably remember JP Shelton's post on his R-9, which I think is almost the same gun. He sure loved hunting with that one..:)

So Jeff, have you ordered any new scopes this week? Let us know which ones you will use on your two new rifles..

Hey Gene,

The Goldfinger combo I ordered comes with a Beeman 3x9x40 scope and the Winchester 1000XS combo is coming with a 4x AO scope, so for now I'm all set for glass.  I plan on just using the scopes that come with the guns and see how I like them.  If they work well then I'll just leave them as is.  If they need to be replaced then I'll start trying to figure out my strategy for  convincing the Mrs. how important 2 new scopes are :)

As far as my growing collection,,,,,,  my first day off this week I have to go out and purchase another gun safe.  I've simply run out of room in the safe that I have.  I figure if I get one that holds 12 rifles that'll  give me the room I need to store all my rifles plus give me some "extra" spots for the airguns yet to come :)

It's funny you mention about trying to decide which air rifle to shoot now cause that's what happens everytime I go into the safe to get one.  I stand there, look at them, and often just can't decide which one to grab.  I just love shooting each of them so much that it's just hard to choose.  But I consider that a "good problem"  :)

So then you are good to go on the glass. I think JP Shelton used a scope from WalMart for his R-9 .20 and that was good enough for him. He is kinda like you, an avid small game hunter with his springers. Oh ya Jeff that is a great problem to have... hehe. I know exactly how you feel..:)

Jeff,

What brand of safe are you going to get ? This would be another good review. Let me recommend the " Stack On " brand. Many different sizes and lay - outs. Best of luck...

Jeff,

Do you have a  " Dick's Sporting Goods " near you ? If you do, check with them. If you have to order one, Midsouth sells them. I think they have free shipping. I have two upright safes and two smaller ones. Best of luck...

Sweet fancy Moses!!!

I have a stupid $50 1377 sitting in my garage that I JUST brought in the house for the first time since I bought it a month ago today.  The only reason I brought it in was because I made some new wood for it and my guess is that with all of the sawdust and the new wood my wife wont know I bought another one, call it "maple camoflage".

My wife isn't all bad though, ....3 years ago, just before a shoulder surgery she told me to go buy a new laptop because while I was out from work recovering, it would be a good time to get my new computer all dialed in.  Unlike you and the internet shopping I think I was in my car on the way to Fry's before she even finished telling me it was ok.  Surely there was a Bass Pro shop or Cabellas within a days drive of you, no?  Sorry, I'm spoiled here in Fort Worth, Cabellas less than 8 miles away, and Bass Pro is a little over a half hour away towards the airport.  I frequently take my kids to Cabellas on a slow weekend, tell them it's "The Zoo", and go look at airguns.  "Daddy, I thought the animals in the Zoo were supposed to be alive?", "Shutup and eat your Buffalo Burger".  Of course my kids know it's about my shopping, except my 22 month old, but he likes the fish:)

Have fun with that new shootin' iron, I know I've eyeballed that one a few times myself.  Huhm, I bet I could make a Goldfinger stock from maple.......
