I can't believe I bought this gun!
« on: November 21, 2008, 07:01:27 AM »
My wife left after UPS arrived.  I think she 's on her way to see a lawyer.. but at least it's one of a kind like all of Lee's (Lemak) custom guns are.  Too bad he 's retired now.

I got an AF Condor .25 with custom oak stock and dual grips.  It feels like a machine gun when I hold it.  Real nice wood, laminated, and looks better in real life than the pics.  The shoulder piece in the back is easily adjustable from left to right. It just swings around with a little force and it conforms to my body very well.  I thought it might be hard to shoot from a bench with the front pistol grip but it's not.  The previous owned a pump and got tired of pumping and said he has only put maybe 50 pellets through it.  It's in excellent condition.

It has a worked (and polished) valve, custom top hat & stem, heavier hammer, spring, custom breech slide, etc. and it's supposed to do 90+fpe with 42gr pellets.  All it needs is a shroud :-)  It's also a lot lighter than I thought with all that oak on it.  7.4lbs with the tri-rail unscoped.  It feels more balanced than my .22 Condor and the trigger is better.  It might also be tuned.  The power wheel moves very nice and without much effort, unlike my other Condor which also has a heavier spring.  I think the main difference is that the .25 has been deburred and polished inside (the frame) everywhere and my Airhog Condor is not.

This gun is way too loud without a shroud, so I 'll have to wait for Talon Tunes to make me one before I start shooting it.  .25cal pellets are huge!  Its previous (and 1st) owner sent me a full tin of 31gr Kodiaks and I can't believe how much bigger than .22 Kodiaks they are.  I snapped a pic of all 3 calibers for you guys.  And just imagine I will be mostly shooting the larger 35gr EunJins and 42gr SamYangs, which I don't have yet.  I need to buy more 2x4's for my backstops! hehe  I 'll probably snap some better pics later.  These came from Lee the tuner, but seriously the gun looks better in real life.

I wish I could shoot Elk with it :-)  It's still a tad below a .22LR's power, but it makes a bigger hole, hehe.  But give me time, maybe I'll have it up to 100fpe.  There are a couple of guys on the Talon forum that have 105+fpe .25 Condors.  I 'm hoping to run into a coyote in the woods after deer season.  Racoon will do fine too..

Actually all the people I 've talked to that are deer hunting right now about 3mi. up the road from here in a 5,000 acre state land, are saying there are seeing coyotes running around everywhere while they 're out there during the day.  I think it's because the woods are filled with deer hunters and the coyotes have nowhere to go or probably deliberately staying away from their dens so they don't attract humans to their young.  But every person I 've talked to so far said they have seen coyote during broad daylight, so I need some "firepower" when I get out there after deer season.

I 'm just catching up slowly to Tim and his 250-300fpe Dragon Slayer :-)

Thanks Gene. I can't get enough of it. I have it sitting here next to my deskall day and Ijust keep staring at it :) Well I 'm also protecting a very large $ investment. Cheaper than hiring a security guard or a getting a big safety deposit box :)

Jeff:
As long as your keyboard is wet just from saliva and nothing else (like soda) we 're cool ;)

I don't know.. noone has seen this gun yet except for me, unless the tree rats broke into my gun room overnight to see what was in that big ol' box the UPS man delivered :-) I bet they sent their friend the bandit to do their dirty work. They 're good about breaking in to homes. If the word got out, I 'm finished in this neighborhood. I 'll never be able to shoot another critteragain! Time to move..but where? maybe to a remote Island! one that's Long too! hehehe Don't worry, if therewere any critters left around here, they 're long gone.

New pics!
« Reply #11 on: November 21, 2008, 10:06:59 AM »
The gun came with the tri-rail installed in the front because the guy had a laser and a light mounted there.  Not sure why he didn't use the regular rails..  It looks kind of cool with the tri-rail on the front frame - kinda like a modified AK-47 :-)

I relocated it where I 'll be using it for the scope.  I took pics of both with the tri-rail in the front as it came, and on the regular position (may move it back all the way).  For some reason the gun looks really cool (different?) with the tri-rail mounted on the front which I have never seen before.  I also took some pics of the .22 & .25 together.  Can't just have one.  They 're like potato chips :)

Thanks Ed.
That's just a single/twin bed in the guest room where I keep 1 gun cabinet.  I may be sleeping in it tonight though :)  The wife isn't happy at all but it looks like she figured out how to get back to me.  She asked what I paid for it so of course I had to lie and take a couple of hundred $ off what I actually paid, and she said: ""how MUCH?? oh good, I 'll go shopping and spend the same""!!  I really don't want her going on a shopping spree and waisting my $ on crap she only wears once or twice, but it's the only way to get myself out of the dog house I think..  I should have told her 300-400 bucks less.  I wasn't thinking straight! :)
