I want a gun thats accurate as all heck.
« on: May 27, 2009, 02:59:10 PM »
Okay guys. I got a rear sight on order from pyramyd air for my storm. I will use that, as my main gun. So now i need a new gun that i can shoot with a scope. I want a gun that is as the title suggest crazy accurate. I dont mind a used gun, but i want to try and stay under $400 if at all possible w/o optics. So lets say you had never shot or seen any of these rifles. Which would you choose based ona reputation for accuracy at a given range. Say out to 35 yards. For minisniping purposes. Be honest now...

Thats not under $400 jeff. You gotta play by the rules. i did consider it though, but by starting off at $500 for the gun, that leaves me less to get a good set of optics on there. I really did consider it though.

Hey Brody,

The Beeman R-9 Double Gold comes with the scope and mounts !

The Hw-50 is a nice balance of power between the R-7 and the R-9, and very well be my next purchase, if my mommy will let me. The HW-50 does not come with a scope and mount though.

Thanks guys. So far the R7/HW30 is winning followed by the R9. think we have any beeman fans around here? nah. I would prefer the R9, but isnt the R9 kind of like a Diamond in the rough? I have heard it benefits greatly from a tune. Does this mean its kinda rough out of the box? Thanks again.

My 2  R-9 Goldfingers are still bone stock and they weren't "rough" at all outa the box.   Straight from the box my 2 rifles cocked smoothly, shot smoothly and were laser accurate.  They were fantastic right outa the box.

Would a tune improve them ???  Sure, but we all know a tune would improve any rifle.  But do I feel my R-9's need a tune ??  Nope ...... :)

Thanks. I have just heard from a couple people that out of the box the guns were a little rough. Jeff you think you could email me some pics of your gun, and maybe some groups. I would greatly appreciate it.

Not a problem,,,,, I do in fact save my targets and keep them in the folders I have for each of my rifles along with detailed notes on work I've done on them, pellet preferences, etc....,,,, so I'll take some pics of some of the groups and the rifle and post em.....   I'm on my way out to the doctor in a few minutes, but by the end of the day I'll have the pics posted  for ya....

Also,,, if you want you can also check in with fellow GTA member  dnttech (Bob) ,,, he just recently took possession of a brand new R-9 Double Gold ...  He can give you his impressions of the gun "outa the box".....  shoot him a pm........

2 opinions are always better than 1........

Even R7s benefit from tunes! In all fairness, the R9 is one of the most loved and recommended quality rifles anywhere. I don't have one to compare, though. I am continually blown away by the R7, and if the R9 is in the same quality league, along with the increased power, it would explain why it is so popular.

I guess its all going to come down to how much money i end up getting for my birthday. If i get only $500 then i will get the R7 DG, but if i get closer to $600 the i will go for the R9 DG.

Under $400 dollars?!?!? I've got a rifle for under $100 dollars that is incredibly accurate. The TF-97!!!!! LOL's No BS either. I bought mine (.22) from Ronbeau and at 15 yards I can stack them into a nice tight clover leaf. I coundn't believe believe it and was giggleing the whole dang time I was shootting it!!! Got some work to do on the trigger,...which just plain sucks,...but it's a diamond in the rough!! tjk
