SDPD Meet & Greet Pictures...
« on: July 18, 2009, 01:42:03 PM »
Great turnout today>>>...9 shooters...Pellets were flying....Some shooting 25 yard targets....and I think most tried 50 yards including some shooting at shotgun shells at 50 yards...LOL...

I set up a wind flag at 25 yards...and wind was totally different at the 50 yard targets....we even got some head wind...but most was left to right on range...

My 50 yard USBR target...needed practice for match tomorrow in Temecula..

Saw horses worked out at 25 yards..backers were covered with targets when all arrived...

I know Victor shot 300 pellets...and think some "springer" guys shot more.(Eric & Casey..???)..!!!

Danny, our range coordinator will let me know next available  date..and I will post thread here...he also is planning some improvements at the benches..,but for $5.00, who's complaining...LOL...

Great pics, Richard! A pleasure seeing some familiar faces and meeting some new folks!

One of the great things about doing these is getting to see (and try)other shooting irons. I finally got to shoot a legendary HW97 (nice!). And I am afraid I am gettingthe Sumatra bug- jeez, what a cannon!

I didn't take any pics this time to speak of, except for Dan's Eun Jin. The Marauder had a good day and so did we.

I learned today that the couple that was shooting to our left at the SDPD range are making shooting benches with the idea of starting up a 25 yard benchrest match at the SDPD range....

Apparenty they had been shooting the 25 yard match at the PK2000 range and had a "falling out" with the range owner about (shade) tarps over the benches there...??

Anyway, Danny is coodinating with this couple and is looking to us to hook up with others to start matches at SDPD..maybe even an airgun club.....also I learned that the San Diego Police are in full support of air rifle matches at their range and also want to get a program for kids going....
I for one do not want to get in the middle of the "politics" with this couple and the match director at the PK2000 range because I have competed there and know the match director from other matches in Temecula..but think the SDPD range may end up being the best deal for the meet & greet folks considering range fees,etc...$5.00 is hard to turn down...lol...

I'll try to keep info current on developments...seems this couple could also use some help making these shooting benches...heard they have made three already..

Later,
Rich

What a fantastic day!  I don't know how many pellets I shot but I could've shot more.  It was nice  shooting with a great bunch of guys with such diverse firepower.  I really got a kick out of blowing up that shotgun shell with Danny's Sumatra. What a cannon!  Not to mention two first shot bulls eyes with Julie's R7 and Dave's Marauder.  Both very sweet rifles. Kudos to Danny and Rich (forgive me if I omitted anyone) for organizing this excellent event.

Thanks Eric, but credit goes to Danny for all his help and getting us on the schedule...all I did was pass info to the meet & greet folks here and on other forums....

I really enjoyed the day, especially watching all the excitement of shooters having fun....and meeting the new shooters...!!!

Considering  crosswinds at 4-8 mph (measured), not bad...think I placed 4th...all the other shooters had USFT Match Rifles...

Here is my first target...

Flags were pretty much straight out through first 2 relays...then wind increased to 12 mph on last relay....,..

Just wanted to chime in....this was the best day of shooting I've ever experienced (in my 6 month shooting career).  Great venue, great people - I can't wait to get out there again!  It was nice to try out some other rigs and get some sage advice from the more experienced shooters (thanks for the help with the scope Rich!).  Now I just need to find a 25 yard diagonal in my yard so I can get those .20 cals dialed in! LOL.

I went thru the same in my yard...ended up shooting from the side yard, over the A/C condensor, past the kitchen door and over my brick Bar-B-que...just have to remember to tell my wife I'm shooting....lol...

Danny is going to let me know when next date is open for us....I expect to hear something within a week...

I'll bring my chronograpgh to the next outing...that way we can estsblish what your own rifle is shooting....

That's a great idea Rich. It'd be nice to have a velocity benchmark for each of our rifles.
