Feeling pretty inspired by you folks....
« on: February 24, 2007, 04:22:17 AM »
Ya know I only got into adult airgunning a little over 13 months ago, and I only found this forum 8 months ago, besides my quickly grown airgun collection I'm really a nubee in this sport.  Even as a nubee an interesting thing happened today that made me feel very much a part of the airgun community.  The last month or so has been a little extra busy for my family.  We had a very close family friend pass away a month or so ago and their family needed alot of attention the last few weeks, then I've been working on a couple job position changes/promotions that have kept me busy, then on top of that I have been ill twice this month, with "flu-like somethings" (most likely stress related), and my wife has been ill with the actual "sick achy flu" and so has my 2 year old son.  Anyways, it's been a little rough here to say the least, and I haven't been shooting, working in the garage, or even posting in the forum here as much as I would like to. ....so a funny thing happened, that I don't think happens very often with any other hobby....one of our forum members pmed me, and I've had other "airgun buds" emailing me, then another forum member pmed me because the first member had told him about me being sick, and basically people in this community just making sure I'm ok.  I've had other hobbies, and I've had other forums, chats, etc that I've been active in......, but none of them ever noticed when someone turned up missing...and I have only been really quiet for a day or two or maybe three.  Anyways, long story short I am VERY impressed!!!  You guys are great!!!

My wife is a little better today after I forced her to drink "thera-flu" and go to bed early last night, my son is always better during the day (I think he may be getting some more teeth too), and I will live.  My other two boys have just been ticking along just fine, and actually been helping out alot too.

Thanks to everyone who wrote, and take care,

Dan

Ha Dan,

Im a Newbee myself, I hope you all get better real soon !

Those air guns don't take after themselves you know.

Better teach your youngins gun safety, then turn them loose cleaning all your rifles so you won't loose time when you are feeling better.

Us "brothers" have to keep after one another, it's not much fun shootin alone. Besides with out this here forun, who would we swap tails with.

Keep...Keepin Up,

.....wife was still looking down in the dumps, so I forced her to ride along with me to Academy Sports to return a couple pairs of poor fitting shorts.  I promised she didn't have to go in and that I would be fast.  So I went in and returned the shorts, "Maybe I should pick up some pellets"....and PoOf!!!!!  Another Gamo came home with me, this time a PT-80 8 shot CO2 repeter...hehe, it's insane I swear:)

I do feel at home here when I drop in and read what's up. (about 3 times a day)

It does seem to be a good community of like minded people.  I think one of the positive things about this place is the lack of talk about "other things" and with that I mean religion, politics and what not.  Nothing seems to divide people as quickly as those subjects.

I come here to read an learn about air gun things.  Nothing more (with the exception of friendly semi-related things) and that is what for me at least, keeps this place on the top of my list.  It's about airguns and friends.  Nothing else.

I too hope you and your family heal up fast.  My whole house was sick as a dog last weekend.  I feel for you in a real and empathetic way.

Thank you Mr.Gene!

Wife is feeling better today, son is feeling worse....guess a trip to the doctor tomorrow is in order.

I'm fine today I think except for my trigger finger from that 9 1/2 pound Gamo trigger on the new PT-80.  I'll shoot it out of the one CO2 capsule I loaded then back in the package and back to the store.  I should have known I wasn't going to be happy with that gun, but for $68 I figured I could afford to try it out.

Winter's bad enough by itself without feeling ill, Dano. Hope the baby, wife and you get feeling better. Please put in a thought for my oldest son, Eric, who we had to hospitalize Friday with respiratory problems. Turned out to be fluid in the lungs after just having a minor cough for a few days. Now he's on a ventilator for a few days while they try to clean out his lungs. My recommendation: See a Doc,don't delay .  :0

Like I said in the Gamo Gate, Gotta love this place. Thanks, guys. Didn't mean to minimize your illnesses, Dano, or take over the post. Just great to hang out together, whether talking airguns, or immediate family. Like Gene sez, it's all about family!
