You gotta be kiddin', ...
« on: October 05, 2009, 12:18:07 PM »
LAKELAND, Fla.  â€”  A 74-year-old Lakeland woman was hospitalized after being mauled by a pack of raccoons she tried to shoo from her yard.

Gretchen Whitted fell when five raccoons surrounded and attacked, suffering extensive cuts from her neck to her legs.

"We're not talking about a lot of little bites here," Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said. "She was filleted."

A neighbor called for help after hearing the woman's cries and seeing her covered in blood.

Whitted received dozens of staples and sutures and was treated for rabies, though officials doubt the animals were infected.

Fire crews flooded nearby drains where some of the animals escaped, but none turned up. Animal Control

Little rat b****. The pellet gun she did not have could have shooed them away permanently. John

Back when I lived in Maine, - I shot one on my deck one night with a BB gun. All it did was grab the spot and kinda stare at me, - sorta po'd. So I said don't move I'll be right back, - with "something else" - it was gone when I got back. Truth is - it was one large & tough sob.

I am normally a very sedate airgunner, haven't actually shot anything since I was 13 years old, but.....racoons, I don't like, and would have no problem putting a few out of their misery, those things are giant vermine of the worst kind.

The old dotard came across Mama Raccoon with her babies.  When the lady tried to kick them off her porch, Mama retaliated as a good mama should.  Served the old fool right!   :emoticon:  (And they had it on film, too.)

Also in the news yesterday was a report of a woman killed by her pet Black Bear.   Happened in Pennsylvania.   She is supposed to have entered the bear's cage to clean it.  From the report she did not move the animal into another holding area but instead just threw some dog food in another area of the cage.

Maybe he was tired of the Wal- Mart brand?

And she should have been wearing a sign..." I'm Stupid".

Yeah, - I read that Bogey, maybe she was retarded. About two months ago we had a decent size moose in one of the parking lots at work. We had to stop people who wanted to go out and "get closer" to it. Hellooo - these things are wild animals, - YES moose can be VERY dangerous.

It is unfortunate that so many animal shows portray these animals a cute cuddly "Bambie's" and until you watch a show like "When Animals Go WILD", you have no idea of just how dangerous they can be.

When ever you think of "shooing" raccoons, possums or even chipmunks off your porch, remember "RABIES" !!!! the shot are very painful ! I was nipped by a dog that wandered into the school yard when I was in second grade, I received 5 RABIESinjections into my stomach, and they hurt like fire ! I am told that they are not that bad today, but I really don't want to find out !!!!

And NEVER "shoo" cougars, bears, feral dogs and cats, foxes, skunks, bob cats and family as well as crocodiles or snakes. In some areas lizards like the beaded lizard and the Gila Monster should only be approached by professionals !

Aside from diseases, MOTHER ANIMALS are the most dangerous creatures, when their offspring are still with her ! They have been known to fight to the death protecting their young !

All wild animals, as well as domestic animals, are unpredictable at best, be cautious at all times. There really not Bambie's, and Bambi's do not represent reality.

Yep...that poor old lady need us krazy airgun nutz to help her out.....like permanently remove those bandits.

Talking about animal attacks.....two fools (males) climbed over a 2 meter fence with barbwire on top, jumped another lower fence and one dude stuck his arm into the zoo's tiger cage!!!!  His arm got mauled and bitten.  The police don't know what those fools were trying to prove.  We can only suspect the second fool was going to tape the event....  Anyways, last report was that the mauled one might lose his arm.....and they're going to be charged with trespassing.  heh heh  Also, the tiger is over the shock and is put back outside for the paying customers to see.  Happened yesterday in Toronto, Ontario I believe.
