A few years ago, I was out on a Saturday road testing a customer's car and happened on the local air field's air show.
They had a B17 and a Russan "Yack" (?) cargo bi-plane. Suposed to be the biggest bi-plane ever built.
I was surprised at see how small the B17 looked walking around under it. They look so much bigger in movies. They wanted $15.00 to walk through, so I just walked under and around.
There also was a twin engine executive jet. I didn't know it was there until I heard this sqeaking noise behind me while I was looking up at the B17 starboard engines. There was a slight breeze blowing from behind the jet and it's starboard engine vanes were spinning in time with the sqeak. Hearing the sqeak, I thought there's no way I'd ever get in that thing !!!!
Looked beyond the jet to the parking lot and there was a bigger crowd around the 1932 air craft motored car I'd just driven in.
Wish I could have heard that B17 fly over. All I got to hear that day was a darn sqeak of modern engineering ... and the sweet purr of a 1932 air cooled motor !
