IMHO, the WFH is a powerhouse. I have the .25 version. With that power comes huge kick. It takes a while to master, just like the Diana 350M. I was hitting half inch ctc at 15 yards with my WFH, and hitting ground squirrels out at 50~75 yards with no problem. Then I got a Marauder, and stopped shooting my springers for several months. I just picked up my WFH yesterday for some fun, and whatever shooting technique I "had" with that baby has gone out the window. My point being that it takes some practice to master the WFH, and you need to keep that practice up, or it fades a little.
Also, note that I havent opened mine up yet, buteverything I read, says that a teardown, lube, and JM piston seal is in orderfor this baby, and a trigger tune too. So I need to do that. I did shim the breech seal, which brought the velocity up a little and improved the consistency. Back when I was measuring the velocity, I got 850fps with .25cal 19gr Milbro Rhinos. The Rhinos are a great deal which I got from AoA. Each pellet skirt has to be flared a little though. And of course there's always a place for the legendary .25 cal beeman kodiak/H&N Barracudapellet...but I have no velocity/consistency/accuracy data recorded for that pellet. All I can remember is that it works good in the WFH, and has a much different POI than the Rhino.
As far as it being a scope killer...it hasnt killed any of the scopes that I've tried. I've had four different types on it, all springer rated. The one that came with it is IMHO a great scope. So I've tried the stock scope, a BSA 3-12x44AO, Centerpoint 4-16x40AO, and a Leapers 6-24x50AO. The Leapers currently resides on it, and all the other scopes are in use on other springers. I think that you really have to bolt these scopes down, in order to tame any scope killing movement. I use an Accushot 1 pc high mount(with scopestop pin engaged), and another standalone high ring in front of the 1 pc(with scopestop pin engaged). That gives me 2 scopestop pins engaged, plus a lot of support for the scope in general. Thats what works for me. Now with that said, I'm sure that some scopes have been killed by the WFH...just as the 350M has a reputation for that too...sometimes those things happen. Your mileage may vary.
For those that absolutely LOVE springers like I do, and are aware that the WFH IS NOT a pinpoint accurate springer...I think the WFH is something you should try. Its great for pest control like coons(headshot please), skunks, possums, and ground squirrels. I'm not gonna let go of mine. I think 165 bucks is a great deal for the WFH in .22 or .25.
