Gamo Accuracy
« on: December 07, 2009, 06:21:17 AM »
Thank you all for the help. Went out lastnight and picked a few different types of pellets to test based on the input from the forum. Spent most of the morning working on the problem. Took off the scope and reset it making sure to tighten evenly. Checked the barrel seal ETC. At 40 feet the best perfomer was the CPHP's. Gamo rockets came in second and Gamo raptor stunk and so did the standard CH. My local stores only carry so many type of pellets. I am sure that other types suggested would have worked fine. For now I can pull a heart shot on a squirrel at 100 feet. They do less jumping around that way. Need to keep the sqirrel kissing neighbors happy Thanks again. Lyman

Stay away from the Gamo Raptors....they`re too light....shooting them will probably shorten the life of your spring and piston seal.  Glad you found some pellets that your Whisper likes....and sweet too......the CPHP`s are not too expensive.

i too have noticed Gamo magnum or supermagnum have not worked well in any gun ive tried them in so far. especially those raptors too. My experience with them in my CFX and Whisper has been all over the place.
so far:

Talk about squirrel kissing neighbors, ... I work in security, and a few years ago where I was working at the time, we had a local police scanner. One early evening, a call was given out to a cruiser in our neighborhood, - a LOT of condos etc. around there. ... The call was to check on the "well-being" of a "paralyzed squirrel" in someone's back yard, - I kid you not!! ... There was no reply to the call from the cop for quite awhile, he probably thought is was a practical joke. He took a ride over, sounding pretty po'd - and said everything was fine. Lucky squirrel - didn't get shot.

Lyman, I've had great luck with Gamo Hunters in my Big Cat. You might give those a try. JSB exacts shoot the best in my BC followed by CPHP's and the Hunters.

And yeah.....speaking of pointed pellets....the Crosman SuperPoints.....stay away from them.  Not a single one of my airguns like them.  Maybe they're good for <500fps guns.
