TF99?
« on: February 05, 2010, 03:47:42 AM »
They have TF 99s for less than $120 with my coupon from Compsseco.  I've never owned an underlever gun.  Is this one any good?

See if you can find QB36-2 any cheaper. It is the same gun. I had one- they are heavy, but pretty decent if you like underlevers. It was fairly powerful and accurate with some crown polishing. This is one that can really benefit from a tune.

Has the QB-362 (same rifle) for $89.99. Bad thing is it's only available there in .177.

Archer Airguns has the QB-362 in .22 cal for a little bit more.

Got a good QB36-2

It's a .177.  Smooth, solid, and accurate. Good buy for a inexpensive underlever.

I have a .22 caliber TF99 I'd be willing to sell for a very reasonable price. I have way too many springers and not enough room. I'm going to sell the vast majority of my springers and concentrate on my pneumatics.
BTW, I see you're in TN. I'm only one state from you. I'm in GA, so ship time shouldn't be bad.

have 3 of them two QB362 and one TF99, (same gun except for stock) are very heavy but very accurate, great for long range bench shooting,(more accurate long range than any of my breakbarrels) too heavy to carry around hunting, good guns also powerful,  only complaint would be im not sure I like the leather piston seal. thats my 2 cents.

Mine was a .177. I don't know if this makes any sense, but for thet kind of weight I think I would prefer it in .22. I bought mine new at a gun show, believe it or not. I had the Centerpoint 4x16 on it and it wasa very effectivecombination.

It would be easy enough to replace the leather seal, although I didn't. This is one of the few guns I have actually sold. It was my second springer, and it just wasn't getting shot due to my subsequent acquisition binge. Needless to say, I regretted it almost immediately. I am an airgun hoarder.

There used to be a really great online guide for the QB36-2that a gentleman had on his personal site, but it is long gone. It was a complete rebuild including a delrin seal replacement. I wish I had saved that off line- now I usually do when I find a resource like that. He also crowned and fire-lapped the barrel. I did the old toothpaste and brass screw trick and it virtually eliminated flyers, if I kept the stock screws tight.

You better let us know what you end up doing! Might want to take a look at Jaymo's....

I bought Jaymo's TF99.  Pellet suggestions?  I have in inventory right now, Superdomes, Superpoints, RWS Hollowpoints, CPHPs and Predators.

JSB Exact Jumbos.
For close range, backyard shooting (10-20m) I've had good results with Gamo Match .22 wadcutters.
Of course, that's my gun, so...

Your current inventory sounds like a pretty good start, though.

Closer in, Superdomes might yield good results. Under 25m I think they are great. Did he say whether he had polished the crown? Doing this will change the performance of every pellet you put through her.

PS: When I had mine I was shooting a lot of CPHPs and they were fine!
