ANTI-GUN The UPS store
« on: March 10, 2010, 11:00:32 AM »
Just a word of warning! I went to my local UPS store today to send back an air rifle to Best Airguns and they wouldn't take it!!! They consider it a FIREARM. I found out from the clerk that the UPS stores are not part of UPS, they just use the name. The man made two phone calls and was told that the company policy is that they will not handle anything associated with guns, period. No air guns, no air soft guns,no firearms, and no firearms parts.  The clerk said he turned away a POLICE OFFICER trying to ship a pistol barrel to a gunsmith. It sounds like this company is totally against the rights of people to conduct business legally in the firearm trade.  I guarantee I will never do business with them again.  snookman

Must be a local jerk, - I had UPS deliver several, and send several out, either returns or to Gene for a tune. Never had ANY problem - in any way. Plus PA uses UPS to deliver, - and that's A LOT of guns.

It is the UPS store chain, not UPS that is the problem. I opened an account with UPS, and they are going to pick up the gun tomorrow at my house. It will cost $28.00 to have it shipped, but it will keep me from having to drive 50 miles round trip to the UPS hub in Central Florida. The UPS store is only 10 miles away on my way home from work. The clerk is very understanding, but doesn't want to break company policy. I do not blame him. It is a company that does not want to be involved in firearms transactions. They are an example of the way the Right to Bear Arms  is being restricted. The gun banners think if they make it hard to make even  the most simple transaction, We the people will just give up. I will not give up without a fight!!!  THE SNOOKMAN.

When I was shipping guns to have them tuned  or worked on, I never had a problem. Why, I told them it was an air machine for punching holes in paper and other stuff.

They never questioned me and I didn’t offer any more details.  :emoticon:

UPS delivers all my firearm ammo, so don't think it is them that is anti-gun.  Liberal PC is getting out of hand.

The policy of the company is obviously ANTI-GUN. I could tell them that the box contains cookies and they will ship it if I wanted. The point is,  they will not send a package that has anything to do with firearms. It does not matter if it is perfectly legal, they choose not to be involved. I choose not to do business with a company that restricts trade in legal products. snookman.

Not UPS. UPS STORE. They are not part of UPS. Private company apparently licensed to use the UPS name.

That is so weird. I've used the UPS store in town a bunch of times to ship "BB" guns without any problem. When I come in now they see my box and say "shipping another "BB" gun and I say yes. They don't even ship the package, they hold it for the real UPS driver to pick up in the evening. The only thing they do is take my money and hold it for UPS. I don't know why some of them are getting weird about it. If they start not taking my stuff they lose $$$ and I'll go to the Fedexstore and ship from there. Never had a problem with them either.

It really does depend on the franchise dealer. I had the same issue here but we also have another one not far away and with him, it was no problem. And yes, going directly through UPS is no problem. I have sent many hundreds of guns via UPS and have had a couple thousand delivered here. I went to FedEx quite some time ago though as it was both less expensive and more convenient.

I have the same problem with my local UPS (private) store and they will not ship anything that is gun related. I used to do a steady business with them for all my shipping because they were very close but after the disagreement we had about policy I no longer deal with them for anything. I use Fedex and like Charlie said...less expense and no crap.
