I Am So Impressed With The NPSS That................
« on: March 12, 2010, 11:00:50 AM »

I bought another one in camo .177. This one is special. Sense R&L did not have a Crosman NPSS Digital Camo.177 in stock. He switched out a Remington NPSS Camo stock for me. Great guy that Randy.

Well I am very pleased with the NPSS gas rams, so much so that I now have two .177. One in black C/B and the second one a real nice camo that Crosman puts on the Remingtons.

Reason I chose the NPSS over the Trail are purely design issues. The NPSS is truly a great build from Crosman. I will be selling my new Trail NP .22. Since Crosman is not planning on producing any of the Trail NP's in .177 any time soon I just do not need a .22. I bought it to check out the internals and build quality compared to the NPSSand really was not that impressed as I was with the NPSS. So I will be putting the Trail up for sale soon.

THE ONES I SLEEP WITH: BSA Lightning XL, AA TX-200, AA ProSport, BSA Ultra, HW-97K, Crosman NPSS .177, FX Cyclone, HW-30 Nicle Plated, AA-S200, Crosman Marauder, CZ-634, R-9 DG, Webley/Scott UK Tomahawk, Benji Kantana, Benji Marauder, Benji Discovery.....

Gene,

Did you shoot the NP Hardwood enough to determine if the scope was ok?

Don't even sell that here. And don't even ask something like $150, free shipping, etc. I can't take any more of these deals. I'm gonna have to sell the ones that are on the way to fund more. Seems like I fell off the wagon at a hundred miles an hour. Besides, got too may .22's and that CFX is keeping me satisfied.

Sure.....but not for what I paid for it.  :D I will keep you in mind if I do decide to part with it. To be frank, it isn't really a candidate for rebuilding. Better to find one that's stock.

Yes it should be. They are made at same factory in US. Only difference now is that Crosman changed the color and or materials use on the stock. I will let you know exactly the difference next week. Pictures and tear down.

Greg

No I did not. I shot it enough to know that I could not get groups that I liked. Scope seems ok but looks cheaper made than the one that was on the NPSS. These air gun companies use whatever scopes they can get a deal on just to market their products. I personally will take off the nice Centerpoint that came with myh NPSS and put a nice Hawk on it. The glass is good on the Centerpoint but just weights to dang much...:)

I don't want to rebuild it. I want to put in a Vortek kit in a B-40 and refinish the stock to my personal standards,

Hi Gene - I'm pretty new to the forum(and to airgunning) .I picked up an NPSS on a recommendation from Pyramyd. I'm looking forward to your teardown description -with lots of photos , I hope. ( didn't want to tear mine down until I had some kind of reference to fall back on.) Where would I get new seals for the NPSS? My POI seems to shift on a daily basis.I have a new scope on the way, but from what I'm reading here, that might not be my problem.

Welcome aboard Mark. First off the NPSS comes with a two piece mount and a one piece mount. Very nice..:) But you really need a good one piece mount. One with at least 4 bolts that hold it to the rails. And second I did a reviw on the Crosman NPSS tear down a couple weeks ago. "Under the Hood of an NPSS". As far as the seal goes I do not know if the seal is available through Crosman yet. I did ask JM and he said he did not have them. The seal is a larger seal than on the Trail NP piston. More like the size of an RWS 350 seal. If the seal on the new gun I get is cut up I will just machine the end of piston that retains the seal. The nipple on the piston that hold the seal on is very big and is not the standard. Will machine it down and use a Tesla seal on her. You can see what I am talking about if you look at the picture of the two pistons. One is standard small piston which will find in most all Gamo, Crosman and now the new Trail NP.

Hey, you can always send an offer, baby.

Mean Machine, I'm not one to advocate tossing out a good tune to install a kit, etc. And that walnut stock looks too pretty to personalize. Maybe it will be a stinker and then I'll let you have your way with her for a good price.

One never knows. I didn't pull the trigger last night because I have my eye on something else, which is taking precedence right now. Too many wants, not enough safe space and no time.
