30 minutes or less (Graphic)
« on: April 02, 2010, 01:23:01 PM »
Today I had to run down to the dairy and help move some equipment for the owner. I was told there were a group of squirrels raiding some seed sheds on the property. When asked if I could try to remove them I said I’d get right on it. I walked over to where they were last spotted and saw one poking around. He saw me too and ran for cover; I took up a position near a parked tractor and only had to wait a few minutes before he popped up to see if the coast was clear. I know for a fact that I hit this one solidly but by the time I made it over to where he was there was no squirrel to be found. I checked around but there were plenty of holes for him to dive into. A little while later I spotted another one while glassing another area on the farm. I headed his way to see if I could get close enough for a shot, I was able to close the distance to about 25 yards and leaned up against a gate steady myself for the shot. Not wanting this one to get away I aimed for the base of his head, the 350 Feuerkraft Pro Compact recoiled and the squirrel went straight down from the well placed shot. When I lowered the gun I couldn’t see the squirrel anymore but this one just went limp at the shot, I walked over and found him dead in his hole. I actually had to reach a few inches into the hole to retrieve my prize. Posed him for the obligatory photo session and headed back to where I shot the first one. Sure enough there was another one out digging around on the back of the silage pit. Luckily I had my trusty monopod with me and used it for a solid rest. He saw me at the last minute and ducked into the nearby tire pile for safety. Just a few minutes later I could see two little squirrel eyes peering out from his hiding spot. I gave this one extra time so feel comfortable enough to come all the way out in open, I had already ranged the spot and knew the distance to be 34 yards. When he came out far enough I put the crosshairs between eyes and his ears and touched off the shot. The pellet made sharp crack upon contacting the fuse box and this little guy just rolled up ball. I retrieved this one and set up the second photo shoot. About this time I’m feeling pretty good about going 3 for 3 in just a few minutes. I headed back to the truck and was just about to climb in when I see number 4 on the other side of the silage pit. A few minutes later I’m leaning up against a pole waiting for him to make another appearance. Just like before I see him poking his head out from the tire pile. Feeling confident I quickly lined up the shot and took the shot. This one was luckier then the others and got away with just a free haircut. I was a little bummed out about missing but I thought all in all I had a good hunt. Total time spent with rifle in hand was less then 30 minutes. Before leaving I let the operator know he had 3 less squirrels around and he was pleased to hear the news.

Oh I missed a pigeon too but it was out about 65 yards away and on the move. Enjoy the photos.

pindog2000 I absolutely love my 350 Feuerkraft. I think I own 10 air rifles and it is by far my favorite. It was super accurate right out of the box. The dang thing is heavy as all get out but I think that lends to its accuracy. It has a lube tune with all original parts and it hold zero extremely well. When I miss a critter I know it was me and not the gun. I shoot that gun more then any of my others. I have a B28 that is probably my second favorite gun but more often then not you will see the 350 in most of my hunting photos. Post up a picture of yours, I’d love to see it.

Right now I'm fooling around with a newly aquired walter talon mag in .22 cal I like it I have my 350p boxed up to be tuned but last month I had my buddy shoot her in the back at some old pumpkins I had at 22yrds open sites he loved it I told him 300 big ones at airgundepot and that's with a discount cause we know these guns cost retail over 450 urs over 500 so far its the most expensive gun I own next to the custom 2250xt I'm getting custom made from roy weid I think 149 for the 2250xt and about 180 in mods so yep I can't wait but nice shooting how is that b28 anyways ?I m looking at the b40 but value wise the tx200 holds its value so I'm brain storming now
keep your eyes on the prize & dont let it crawl away.

The B28 is a very hard hitting gun. And much like everyone here has said it can be a challenge to learn to shoot. I sure what I'm about to say will cost me, but I think I've got mine mastered. It's a long gun and feels like a center fire rifle in your hands but truth be told it's probably my second favorite gun. I have a B25 I need to spend some time with to work all the bugs out. I'm considering the Benji Trail NP XL for my next purchase, currently I don't have a gas ram in the herd and I'm feeling somewhat incomplete without one. I think I still have a fathers day chip I can cash in.  Keep us posted on how the Talon Mag works out for you I almost bought one of those a few weeks ago but somehow should enough restraint not to take the plunge.
