Well after much thought I will be putting the m-rod up for sale very soon .I have been  tossing around getting a new gun and have narrowed it down to either the new version of the evanix blizzard  or the rainstorm .I like the  rainstorm but it may not be as efficient do to the shorter barrell .I love the maruader it has been an amazing gun  but I should have bought the .22 instead of the .177 for more knock down power .I did consider buying another  M-rod in .22 but I just want a tadd more power than what the maruader can provide . I noticed that the new evanix guns have adjustable power settings so I have the option of turning down the power if needed .I will be putting in my order  as soon as I  decide which gun it will be .Help me out here guys whats your thoughts

Anthony, I am so close I can smell the Korean wood...:) I shot a Blizzard last year and was very impressed with it's accuracy and power. But it was just not my style of gun. I like the carbines and decided then that I would never own one because it was just to heavy for a PCP and way to long..:) But Ribbonsonmac has been posting threads on the new Evanix Rainstorm which are lighter and shorterand I am drooling every time I hear that name..:) I a very close to buying one..:) Can feel my finger slipping toward that button...

That is my story Anthony and I am gonna stick with it until I have a new Rainstorm in my meat hooks...:)

Since performance looks to be basically the same, go with good looks! ;-)...

I really like the Blizzard I am shooting. Thumbhole stock is really nice. Accuracy is good enough that I did an eye shot on a coyote at 40 yards and dropped him on the spot. (a bit of luck that but you can credit to 'excellent shooting' if you want) Either way the Evanix rifle I have is a beauty. From wood to finish to its behavior in shooting it really is nice. As nice as the AA410s I got to compare it to awhile back. Mine really likes JSB Monsters. Even better than EunJin pellets. Makes knocking blackbirds off of tree branches easier than it has ever been for me.

The rifle does not feel heavy. Balances well for me(5'5 1/2" tall) and is very comfortable to shoot. I don't pump it back up until after shooting 4 full magazines. Then it gets refilled. Am still hitting the birds and whatever else I shoot at all through the 40 shots so no complaints there.

Just be aware with my description that I do not have the experience of a lot of various rifles. The Blizzard in .22.  RWS 48 and 350 in .177. Tech Force 89 in .22. A small bit of shooting with an AA 410s in .22 head to head with my Blizzard. And a short look at a Marauder but no shooting time with it. Others have way more experience than I do with many rifles. All I know is that the Blizzars is one very nice, accurate and powerful Air Rifle and it sees a lot of use. Even more so with spring here and the pest animals coming in more every day. it also shot well at 22 to 29 below zero after leaving it in the pickup overnight. Did it to see if it would change in the cold. Couldn't tell any changes and it shot well. Me all covered in ice fishing insulated overalls, mickey mouse boots, fur lined hat & gloves... and laying in the snow shooting at targets in the cold. It worked flawlessly.

All in all, very safisfied with the Blizzard. Anything newer is probably a bit more refined yet as PyramydAir works with Evanix so they both make more profit.

I heard they should be releasing .25 versions shortly, perhaps worth the wait? I've been eying the Renegade TDR and carbine versions meself.
If some is good and more is better - then too much is just right.

Well I guess it will be the new version of the blizzard .It will be another month before the rainstorm will be in stock and I still think the longer barrell on the blizzard  will make more power using less air.

You won't go wrong with either gun, but I got the Rainstorm because of the shorter length, equal power & the look of the stock.  Now that I have it I'm not sorry in the least with the decision.  I'm 6'-2" & have long arm & big hands.  The Rainstorm has great balance, is not too heavy & shoulders great.  After a good cleaning & polish of the barrel it is shooting 1 hole 5 shot groups @ 30 yards with an ave. shooter.  Oh, did I mention the trigger is great.   Adjusted it down to about 1 lb, with a 1/8" 1st stage & a 2nd stage that breaks super clean & the same every time.  If you have not seen it take a look see:

Do you think you need to install a de-pinger in it? Any noise from the action or air tube when shooting? The accuracy sure does look good. Any comparison to AA, FX, Daystate, HW or other top quality rifles from your perspective to share?

I put a home made depinger in it, that works great. I also tapped & pluged the hole in the shroud near the breach Evanix to let the air escape. I think they thought it's needed because of the amount of air each shot uses. With it pluged & the depinger itLs quieter than the Mrod i had. I unplug the hole when I turn up the power to 48fpe. I have it turned it down to 38-40fpe for every day shooting.

Where to find information on getting and installing a DePinger in the Evanix Blizzard? As long as it can be done without harming the rifle or its performance I am willing to try it. The Piiiiinggggggg as I shoot is louder than the shot. Maybe because my head is near it as I shoot but I would like to tone it down.
On adjusting the power, which way to turn things for more and less power? Also... how easy to screw something up when fiddling like this?

I do not own a PCP but thinking of one so I started doing some research about the Evanix. I came across a review of the Rainstorm in the yellow forum where the reviewer had to do some dremel work to fix a problem in the magazine and another dremel work to line up the tube with the stock! I'm sorry but that soud to me a low quality production from Evanix.  After spending more than $1000.00 to buy the rifle and the accessories, I'm not willing or ready for any extra work to be done on the rifle to have it work properly.  Have these problems been fixed by the company?  I'm afraid that there are some other problems we are not aware of?  Any info, not specifically about the Rainstorm but the new line from Evanix in general?  Thanks.

Yo de-ping it just like the M-rod,
Remove the barrel band and fill valve from the end of the tube.
Make it out of a section of rubber hose or tubing, and slide it about half way in the air tube.
Once you take your Blizzard out of the stock, you should be able to find the hammer spring adjuster.
Increasing the hammer spring will give you more velocity, relaxing the spring will give you less velocity.
I think robinsmac also put in a weaker hammer spring in his Rainstorm.

That's great, I hope you got your 10 percent off.
I just went to the Pyramid site, and it looks like they started selling the shorter version of the S10 and the Rainstorm today or yesterday.
It did have a date of 4/15/10 for the shorter S10, and 5/14/10 for the Rainstorm last time I checked.
They both are $659 so I think I will go with the lighter, shorter Rainstorm.
But I am still recovering from my .177 M-rod and scuba setup, so I'm going to have to wait for my .22 Rainstorm.

Have fun
