If you have one that hasn't sunk yet, use a little flour mixed with acetone then spread it on the bare wood and let it dry. This should suck out any oil thats there and dry it out a bit. dust off all the "whiting" then liberally soak that part of the stock with thin super glue. I used thin Cyano Acrylate from hobby shop. After an overnight cure, that spot should be hard as a rock! This works for the stock screw holes too.
