Hi there!
« on: July 17, 2007, 06:38:55 AM »
Hello,

I`m Roel from the Netherlands. While working today I stumbled across this forum, been scrolling up and down a little bit, been doing some reading en felt the need to register.

I`ve been running around the Dutch airgunscene for about twenty odd years. A few months ago my Talon SS arrived from the States. Guns over here in Holland are much more expensive than in the US. The Talon SS would set me back about $830! Other guns I have are a BSA Techstar, doing about 40ftp. There`s a BSA Airsporter mk1, a Gamo MC Super, offcourse a QB 78 and a Weihrauch HW 35.

There`s a huge forum in the Netherlands. But it`ll be harder for you to get the message in Dutch as the Dutch do in the English language I suppose. :emoticon:  This is the link to that forum: http://www.luchtbuks.net/

Maybe we`ll meet each other there sometimes. There`s a Dutch chatbox too, there`s a gathering of airgunfreaks every night, maybe it`s fun to have a talk sometimes. This is the link: http://www.ballistics.nl/

Well, take care, maybe see ya around!

Best regards, Roel13

Hi there,

thanks, it`s always great to be welcome, and it sure feels like being welcome over here.

I was wondering bout something. Over here in the Netherlands there`s an organisation called the NLSO, the Dutch Airgunshootersorganisation. Those guys are trying to organize shoots throughout the country. It`s pretty hard to get regocnized as an airgunshooter, nobody seems to know that a decend PCP doesn`t care to much about 100 yards. There have been a few shoots in several gunclubs, but, there`s nothing much more fun than shooting outdoors. And over here, it`s virtually impossible. The environment spoils the fun for the airgunshooter. It`s forbidden to spill lead on the surface. And it`s pretty hard not to do that when shooting. It`s a crime to polute, and sanctions are pretty tough.
How`s the law over in the US? Are the rules and regulations as hard as they`re over here?
Next question is this. The US is a pretty large market for airguns i suppose. Is in the US a pellet available that`s got a substitute for lead? Searching the net hasn`t given me anything so far. I hope one of you guys knows anything.

But, the Netherlands are not just misery. Over here it`s airgun heaven. I think we`ve got the most liberal airgun laws of Europe. There`s no limit to energy, there`s no limit in caliber, the only reason for an airgun not to appear on the Dutch market is it`s resemblance to a fire-arm. When a gun has got the looks af an actual fire-arm, there`s no way it`s being sold over here. That law is really weird, there`s no real objective way to tell when it looks like the real mccoy.

Well, that`s it for now.

Take care, Roel

Glad to have someone new, from Europe,  to add new insight into this wonderful sport. We don't get much chance to hear what's going on over there. Thanks.
