Hey Gang... I would like your opinion
« on: July 19, 2007, 09:07:21 AM »
about something. I have been thinking on and off about the possibility of making the GRT-III out of solid brass rather the from gold anodized aluminum. What would your thoughts be?  :o I know that the present ones are extremely well received and maybe I shouldn't even be thinkn' about fixn' somethin that ain't broken.:)  Just thought I would run it by you guys, especially those that have purchased the GRT-III's in the past and git yer pinion.

 Yer thoughts...   :)

I wouldn't mind one out of Brass. But I think that might drive the price up a couple percent. Or maybe not cause you wouldn't have to annodize & add another step?

What would be nice is having them annodized in different colors. Green, Blue, Red etc. Kinda like motorcycle parts these days.

I kinda like the gold myself, but Sams idea of offering them in different colors might be cool.  :)

If it aint broke, dont fix it. But I think one should always try and expand their horizons. If the brass GRT-III works as well as the gold GRT-III, then you have another winner Bob :D . If you can make them both available, that might be even better. Like Sam and Jeff said, different colors would be A+ 8)

You've got my yes vote, Bob, I think they'd be great in brass.  Nice as the anodized aluminum looks, there's just something about the look and feel of brass...  JMO.

I don't think that what it is made of matters at all.

The GRT-III is the GREATEST !!!

I feel that my GRT-III is made of, "pure gold" !

Bob, I'm loathe to comment because I don't have a GRT trigger on my applicable guns, yet.

But, you asked for opinions......

If I were considering the purchase I would take off the blond girl hat and put on my "engineer" hat. I do that when I'm considering any purchase of a mechanical device, gun, car, motorcyle, etc. From that perspective I would think hard anodized aluminum is probably more durable than solid brass, is actually more resistant to oxidation and is lighter. Yes I know that corrosion reisitance is a minor consideration for a well maintained gun, but it exists. Untreated brass does tarnish.  The weight difference is also almost insignificant, but I'm applying the old adage "Take care of the ounces and the pounds will take care of them selves."

I do agree that a choice of several different colors of anodizing might be a good idea. If I had a preference I would choose a black or clear anodized finish.

My opinion, for what it's worth..... :)

I would say different colors and stay with aluminum. Brass would be good if I were putting it something to show but never shoot. What do I know I don't own any Gamo guns so I have no triggers but I do like the feel of the polished trigger blade on my B-40.

Brass, I have to disagree with PC, Alum is fine *but* the feel of brass is different, it feels malleable, it doesn't react to heat nor feel high tech more old school.  Given the choice I would pay a bit more for brass (dang if the 440 isn't on order-first Gamo,2nd break barrel after the horrid Benjamin Legacy).  Mind I'm former USN never ask a swaby how he feels about brass.

Cheers
Mark

Should I make a comment?...:) Am I allowed to comment?....:)
For what it is worth, I like the Gold anodized aluminum. Everyone has there likes and dislikes for various reasons...:) Looking at it from a marketing view, I would say make them with aluminum and brass.. In all different colors..:) That way if one guy/gal does not like gold then they have an option of another color or material...:) Now Bob is gonna kill me... lol and Fritz will chew on my old crusty bones after I am dead... hehe
But looking at it from a small business this may not work, because you have to stock more inventory and that means allot more money..:(
So there is my nickels worth... :)

One last thing.. I have watched these triggers in different stages of production being made. I think there are 27 or more separate stages of machining and drilling. Time and labor is a major factor in the production of the GRT-III triggers. Also the care of inspecting and checking tolerances at each stage is carefully watched. Like Bill said, the GRT-III trigger is a fine quality piece of work and cannot be compared to any other replacement trigger. You get what you pay for...:) So if Bob does not decide to make them in various colors or materials, I can understand why...

Bob, put up a Poll on this subject with the variables listed so everyone can vote.....
