Well, last night I got together with my good buddy, Josh and my son, Jon. We sighted the new 440 with my Tasco 44 Mag scope at 25 yards and plinked a few targets. I was very satisfied with the rifle, particularly the features it has above and beyond my SK1. I really like the scope mount which allows me to use the pin on the scope stop to thwart scope creep. I also like the steel trigger guard as opposed to the plastic one on my SK1. Cocking it is a bit raspy and I think a good de-burr is in order on the cocking mechanism. The finish of the stock is very nice.
Well, after we started putting up dime-sized patterns with 4-5 shots, Josh spied a tree rat. I relenquished the rifle to our host and he dropped it with a head shot. So, the 440 is on the board!
Bob, I look forward to installing your new GRT-III, although the trigger in my 440 seems to be less of a pain in the backside than the one in my SK1.
I will return with pics and a full report!
