Boy, my last thread became really long, and it was kinda hard keeping track of everything, so I decided to make a new thread, basically getting straight to what I'm looking for. If you've got some CFX .22 velocity numbers to post...please do. I'm going to post mine in a few minutes. Why am I doing this? Well I'm not the first or the last to wonder about what kinds of velocities others are seeing in their CFX .22. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info about the .22 velocities, so I thought that this thread might become a good resource for those who are interested. Yes, I understand that there is much more to airgunning than just velocity. Of course there is accuracy and consistency too, and to each his/her own...yadayada...but this thread I would like to see as a go to source about the velocities that people have recorded with their CFX .22, because there are some people who find this matter very interesting, and I'm one of them.
Okay, this is a repost, but I wanted to be sure that you read it.
Here it goes.
Oh, I just wanted to point out that it looks as if your .22 is actually slightly FASTER than mine, i.e. I would stop worrying, and get down to enjoying it were I you.
Okay, I just finished re-checking all of my velocities with BOTH the .177 and the .22 Gamo CFX airguns.
I only fired a couple of "wake up" shots to start with, then I took one reading with each pellet.
Okay, on with the numbers.
.22 Muzzle Velocities:
H&N Baracuda Match (aka Beeman Kodiak) - 521
Beeman Ram Jet - 592
Beeman Crow-Magnum - 555
Beeman Silver Arrow - 608
Beeman Field Target Special - 615
RWS Super H-Point - 640
RWS Superdome - 660
JSB Predator Polymer Tip - 626
JSB Exact - 566
.177 Muzzle Velocities:
Beeman Kodiak - 687
Beeman Ram Jet - 766
Beeman Crow-Magnum - 771
Beeman Silver Ace - 774
Beeman Coated Hollow Point - 802
Gamo Magnum - 817
Gamo Rocket - 723
Gamo Tomahawk - 732
RWS Super H-Point - 891
RWS Superdome - 796
JSB Predator Polymer Tip - 768
JSB Exact - 745
Crosman Premier Ultra Magnum - 641
Crosman Premier Hollow Point - 822
Obviously, there has been some variation from my original numbers, especially with the .22.
No longer does a given pellet in .22 outrun the same type in .177, and the Baracudas are coming out approximately at the same speed as the OP is getting.
In fact, I am getting about 30fps LESS than Davee1.
My apologies for having such out of whack numbers initially, causing you so much consternation.
I DID Chrony my .22 when it was brand new, so I suspect that I _DID_ have dieseling my numbers quite a lot.
Either way, I feel far from cheated with both of my Gamos.
In fact, I think they are a tremendous bargain.
To better them significantly, I would probably have to plunk down two or three times what I gave for them with a Beeman R1, HW97, Beeman RX-2, or Air Arms TX-2000. :emoticon:
