Thanks, OP! I mounted it (CenterPoint 4-16X40 MM Illum. Red & Green Mil Dot) tonight, and couldn't get over how bright it was, even in low light. Turned-on the red and green reticle, and was wowed again. I don't like the concentric terracing effect of the reflected light (inside), but will have to live with it. This is my first mil dot scope, and see already the advantages for range dependent "hold".
It is indeed the longest scope that would work on the CFX. Pellets that fit snugly into the breech take some time to seat, as it's tight going in front of the bell. The weight between it and the 4X32 I had on it, is very noticeable.
I see already a bipod is a must have at high power. I've got a collapsable monopod, but I'm too shaky with it. Picked this one up for 63.00 (with discount) at the local WM. Came with Weaver mount rings (didn't use them) and flip-caps. Used the Gamo rings/mounts that came with the CFX Combo, worked fine. Wasn't keen on getting high mounts for it, at all.
I don't like how the front bell protective cover is mounted. It has to mate with ridges in the scope bell. This is a PITA, when adjusting parallax at various ranges, as the cover hinge will be off center of 12 o'clock, depending on range, even when adjusted to the closest ridges. The problem is the cover tabs will hit the rear sight, and you have to realign the cover, so they clear. No, I'm not going to remove the rear sight! I'll cut the tabs off first. Yah, yah, this is an obsessive/compulsive niggle, but the older I get, the worse these things irritate me. It's called set in my ways...
Gonna play with the Gamo 4X32 that came off this .22, and put it on my .22 QB-57 for gits and shiggles.
A coworker said the rifle now looked "evil", whatever that means.
Below are some lo-res pics of this monster on my .22 Gamo CFX rifle.:emoticon:
