Hi Guys, what's the poundage of the Gamo Hunter series over the pond.
Here in Spain it's 18ftlb.
I'm looking for a new scope. I want it to be around the 20mag ie. 8x20x40

Any good recomendations for a hard hitting Springer  :)

Regards Jonboy

The muzzle energy of the Gamo tends to work out to about 15 ft-lbs or so (real numbers). Never yet seen one that'll shoot Gamo Match at 1000fps (like they claim).

What do you want to use the springer for, and what's important to you when it comes to things like weight vs. power?

If you want a hard hitting springer in a Gamo, I suggest the Gamo 1250 .22. Like Vince said your run of he mill Gamo's are advertised at 1000fps but not really realistic numbers. Besides if you did get one to shoot 1000 fps then you would not have good accuracy. The RWS series 350 and 460 in the .22, put out some good results and are powerful air rifles.

Just my opinion

Hi Guys, I'm not looking for another Springer :)
I already have a Gamo Maxima (Hunter Series)
I need a new scope that will withstand the shock.

I think it's the way I wrote it!

I'm looking for a scope that will be OK for a hard hitting Springer  :emoticon:

A scope that comes to mind for durability is the Leapers Scopes first and then the BSA Scopes. Both of those would probably fit your pocket book and are supper duty. You may not want a super power scope because you will not be able to shoot accurately past 60 or 70 yards when shooting targets. And for Gamo Maxima, you will not be able to kill small game successfully out past 40 to 50 yards. At that you will have to hit the game in the head or heart. So I would suggest something in the power range of 4-12X? or 4-16X?, in an AO or AO W/Mil Dot..

Good Luck JT

Thanks Gene, I've looked at the leapers scopes, and I like what I see  :)
So I'm buying one of the TS series.

Thanks for the info  :)

Jonboy, take a look at http://www.jsramsbottom.com/. They are a well known supplier in the UK and buy their scopes direct from the factories with their own brand name so their prices are lower. All their scopes are springer rated. Their service is A1. Also no customs problems buying from UK (EU).
