Bam50/51 , "BigEd", other ramblings ,
« on: January 11, 2008, 02:07:50 AM »
Havent been here in a while, poped in and noticed a few Bam50/51 posts and good 'ol BigEd mentioned and thought I would add a bit about my Bam's.
First (not that it matters) Ed does not live in TN, I wish he did as I would be at his house all the time but he lives elsewhere.
He is now a stocking Bam dealer and if you begged he might sell you a in the box untouched Bam (he might not I dont know) but for about $20.00 more than the cheapest price for a B50 you can find anywhere he will sell you one tuned how you like it, power where you want it, not leaks left to chance, trigger set up nice, re-crowned barrel ........ now that's also about $60.00 less than some dealers sell you one that have never had the box opened, a pretty darn good deal. Naturally he also will install a different barrel for you (at a slammin value price on that work also) I think he keeps LW barrels around and no mark up on them other than the install charge, he would put an HW or most anything you like on. We already had a BSA barrel laying around, Ed installed that for us, same with an FWB P-70 barrel we had around. Ed chrony's them to be sure you get what you ordered he also shoots test targets. Should your Bam somehow develope a problem Ed stands behind his work, I havent ever heard of a problem with one of his guns but if there was a problem he would resolve it A.S.A.P. .
Hopefully I can figure out how to post some pics here (???). A couple of the best airgun shooter in the US have tried our Lothar barreled Bam and liked it, wow. Good trigger, great groups, 2000psi fill to get 40 shots at 900fps w/Kodiak Match .177's. Want extra transfer ports just ask. Want a .22 shooting 40fpe not a problem. And he has at least two more great mods in the works (I cant talk about them untill he does buy everyone WILL want them).
His web site should be up and running very soon and I will post the link when it's running. Untill then if anyone wanted to contact him:
Biged618x2@gmail.com
and "ChrisK's" "BOOK" on the Bam  for self tuning or just general interest:
http://www.klickcue.com/air_rifle/b50_51/technical_details_for_adjusting_the_bam_b50_51.pdf

Now how does one attach pics here?
recrowned stock barrel

now this one is no wallhanger but I feel it could be if one were inclined, Ed built the rifle up a frined did the stock,

I've got a bunch more but dont want to waste too much band width here.
  Thanks for letting me post.

Hi John Good to see you coming around again. Looks like you have found your nitch with the Bam big boys...:) I notice that we do not have BigEd in our GTA Mall. Does he have a web site so everyone can get all the information they need? The reason I ask is that the GTA Rules and Policies do not allow for Dealer Promotions. We would be glad to post his web sit in the Mall but not on the forum...:) Also the PDF you linked to looks very informative. Who is the author of the PDF? I would like to email him or her and ask for permission to either link to it or put on the server so more people have access to it. Any way we would appreciate your cooperation on this matter and we hope to see you more often. Our PCP Gate is getting more members every day and there has been a number of posts on the Bam 50/51 lately. Thanks Gene

Hi John,

what distance is that grouping? that is most impressive if it is further than say 15 meters. That would make the BAM certainly competitive in competitions!

Thanks

They ARE competitive, JT, lots of people use them for Hunter FT.  Granted, that may not be fresh out of the box, but they a popular started gun.  I haven't been able to shoot mine for groups at over 10 yards yet, my regular range is under 2+ feet of snow.  But at 10 yards, it puts CPH's and Kodiaks in one hole over and over again.  Any deviation from that is shooter or pellet induced :-).

BigEd and ChrisK are to the B50/51 what CDT is to the springers, they're all really good at what they do, and all very willing to share their knowledge and experience.  We're all lucky to have people like this involved in our addiction.  Later.

Dave

I am going to make the statement. If you can get that group on 15m then you will be able to win any ft or hft with that BAM because that is no different than a top of the range rifle. All things considered the only difference would be adjustability of the rifle to suite the shooter and the shooter.

You would think that.

That gun in the picture used to be mine, I sold it to JohnB.

But I gotta say it's far from being a good Field Target rifle, I know because I used it for that.  The accuracy is there but the trigger stinks and you would need to spend many times what the gun cost to get a stock that would work well with the rifle.

I spent almost a much as an Air Arms 410 cassic to get that rifle as you see in the picture, I'd rather just have the Air Arms.

That being said,  Ed is a great guy and he is the most personable tuners you will ever talk to.  He doesnt come off like a know it all or an old grump like many tuners are.   If I were ever to get another Bam he would be the man I would go to without a second thought.

Is that a stippled, factory stock with a nice stain job? It's got me rethinking the spray on bedliner.

Make sure and let us know how your gun turns out Barry. I'm looking at one as a hunting rig and possibly upgrading the barrel to a LW with a little more length. I'm guessing your getting yours in .22?

Gene,

Please excuse me I must admit I did not read the rules, I sure dont mean to post things outside the rules.
Ed does as of yesterday have a web site (still a work in progress but some prices and his email are there), I wouldnt know where to put it so:
http://www.bigedmachining.com/         naturally if it needs to be moved/removed from here please do so.

The Bam "BOOK" was put together by "ChrisK" and I believe is hosted on his server (I dont really understand these things) and anyone is welcome to use the link, he just wants to share information.

 Thank you,

John

Hey John, The PeakChick beat you to the link...:) She posted it yesterday and I sent an email to BigEd asking to exchange links and I am still waiting for his reply. Then he can get more traffic from the search engines through the GTA. Will wait and see. I will post the link for the B-50 info in the Library as soon as I geta chance.

Thanks
Gene
