I converted one of my 850's to HPA today...
« on: March 15, 2008, 05:46:54 PM »

Harbor Freight screwed up and I did not get my replacement lathe today.... What I did get was a box of goodies from Mathew Bean, he
supplies HPA upgrade stuff to the airgun folks.

I also bought one of those "colored" 850 stocks that UMAREX was offering last week.... but got mine in Grey:-P
Anyhow, I picked one of my 177 850's and converted it to HPA.
Thats a 22ci 3000psi tank with 1200psi regulator on it. Should be good for 120 shots at around 900fps.
I still have to finish the gauge hole, I lent my socket set to a buddy and so don't have the 24mm socket to fit the hole to.
I'll get it tomorrow and finish up, but here is how it's looking now... still a bit rough:

Hello Roald!!. I have been waiting a long time to see what you would come up with next, for the 850. HPA!!! Great, so now you can get more powerfull shots, and you have an 8 shot magazine. This shoul make for a great hunting rig. Have you tested velocity and acuracy yet??? How much does the rifle + Conversion cost?? Back home in S.A they charge us almost $600-00 just for the 850 alone. No accessorys included.

I'm looking forward to seeng more upgrades and test results from you. Maybe i can convince the wifey later on in the year that i "need" another airrifle, but i will have to import it though. At our local prices i can much rather buy an AAS410.

Regards
JOHAN

Hi Johan,
Thanks, it's not tested yet, I need to get me a scuba tank first.... But I do have a tame
scuba store owner near by that I'm sure, using my yoke, will fill the 22ci tank for me... I'll
find out today ;-) .... I hope that I'm not too over enthusiastic about the speeds.. maybe 850fps
would be more realistic? I'll keep you posted.
I'm sure that if you figure out what all is needed to make the import legal. I could
pack and ship it to you. All you pay for is the gun and shipping.... which you can price
on the web.
I have no idea how much these guys here would charge to ship it too you though... could
be worth finding out?

Hey Roald!

I don't think you are over optimistic about power and shots per fill.  My QB will spit them out at 935 on HPA and has a very long shot string.  I'm using a 13CI Wevo tank, cheapo regulator that has been "home tuned" for more PSI.  Your 22CI tank should give you a ton of shots.  I hand pump my guns, and pumping that HPA QB from zero to 3000 doesn't take long at all, actually used to pump my Talon by hand also and the tank on that was about 1 1/2 times the volume of your 22CI tank.  The beauty of a regulated tank is that once you pump over the output pressure the rest is just more shots, so if you want to only pump to 2000psi it wont effect velocity, just shot count:)  An example, I pumped my Career 707 completely full and my QB completely full the weekend before last.  I went shooting with Joel for a good part of the day and never refilled either gun.  The only other gun I brought was my B26 and I only took a handfull of shots with that, both of the PCP's were still shooting good when I left.  Of course the 707 isn't regulated, so I didn't shoot it as much as the QB.  Not saying pumping is fun, but you are probably in better shape than me and I don't mind pumping mine...just a thought.

Can't wait for the 5th.  The place Joel has picked out is a really nice place to shoot, I think you'll all agree.

Take care,
Dan

hehe! Thanks Alan... yeah, it's kinda between Panzer and battleship grey :-)
Because of the coloursthe stockswere real cheap andI figured that I wouldrather

Hi Ragain Roald,
Well to my eye the gun looks great. The combination of the stock's colour and black air tank make it look super sleek and potent. If only I could have such a rifle in the UK.... :(
Thanks for the photo.
regards,
Alan

Nice looking Rig . You guys are making it very difficult to stay away from one of those 850's . I'm almost hit the button several times already. Had I not sold all my CO2 tanks ,I would have already bought one. LOL kirby
