A Better Mouse Trap..:)
« on: May 08, 2008, 08:28:32 AM »

Well after shooting my AA S410 carbine with cocking lever and the new AA S410 classic with a side lever I thought something has got to change here..:) The side lever is made so it pulls the bolt back straight. So it is very easy to cock. The bolt lever you have to pull it from one side back to cock the rifle. It seems to me that puts allot of pressure on the shaft and at the same time makes it harder to cock because of the cross resistance. And I am sure after a period of time the shaft will wear the bushing out inside causing it to become loose. So I thought I should make a new cocking lever that would be simple and at the same time relieve all the resistance that the original design. I removed the cocking lever and took some measurements and threw a chunk of brass in the lathe and this is what I come up with.. As you can see now I can take my index and fore finger and pull back on the lever without any resistance. This mod made it a whole lot easier to cock the AA S410 carbine...:) I might ad that the wind was blowing all kinds of dust and particles around outside today and when I took these pictures you can see all kinds of debris on everything..:)

Neat Idea Gene, Looks nice . adds a bling . Needs some little wings out the side to be able to tell if the bolt is closed . Maybe just 1/4" long . on each side . kirby

I thought of that David. I wanted a smoot transitiion when I placed my fingers around the knob.  I did think of drilling a small shallow hole on the out side and painting it red to identify the locked position. But really when you cock it you naturally move the nob to the right. At least I found that was what I was doing and did not even realize it..:) But a shallow hole with a bright color inside it would be nice..:)

After selling many for a few years, the current count is just under 1000 left.
