I've stepped over the threshold to the Dark Side
« on: July 14, 2008, 01:13:32 AM »

That's right, I couldn't take it anymore.

I ordered a Talon SS with some goodies last night from Pyramyd. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find a 10% coupon code that would work (They all ended up saving me like $12) and had to settle for free shipping. Still, I'm looking forward to messing with this thing and being able to get better 50 yard groups on squirrels...eheheh.

Still doing allot of reading but feel ready for it when it shows.

What caliber did you get? Do you plan on pumping or going with a tank?

Because of the amount of use it will get I've chosen to start with a pump. (yes, I hear the rumblings...)

I was able to get a Hill Pump with all the attachments for $220 shipped.

I've chosen .22 cal.

You're going to have fun with that, Greg, but I'll bet you end up ordering a longer barrel pretty soon :-).  I can just about guarantee that Kodiaks will be the best pellet, with EJ's running a close second.  Got any questions, you know how to reach me.  If I don't have the answer, I probably know where to find it by now.  Congrats, now it's time to go shoot my "new" S400 :-)!  Later.

I'd love to have a Talon SS. Who sells the Hill pump here in the states?

Or did you settle for regular shipping, and it won't show until Monday?  Finally gave up and ordered the 18" .22 barrel I've been wanting for my Talon SS, it will be here tomorrow, so I'll have 2 guns to shoot over the weekend again.  Take care, and keep us posted.  Later.

(Kicks Dave in the shin for taunting..)

No, it's coming tomorrow along with the pump but I'll still be screwed cause I won't have the air force fitting I need till Monday.

It's my own fault too and that makes it much worse.  I didn't read and comprehend what Yellow Ninja sent me as to what I'd need for the pump.  I'll have no way to pump the bloody thing up till Monday because of it.

Still, I've very excited and it will give me time to do several other things with it in preparation for tuning it in.

OUCH! (Rubs shin while laughing).  Okay, I guess I deserved that, but I just couldn't help myself :-).  I can relate to your filling woes, though, I just went through the same thing with my 400.  I'll be thinking about you this weekend while shooting BOTH my rifles (dodges another kick).  Later :-)!

Looks like offsetting penalties--Unsportsmanlike "taunting" and unsportsmanlike "shin kicking". Shin kicking could be a 15 yarder. However the referee only sees the retaliation shin kicking and assesses "two days in the box".

Yea getting fittings can be a real pain. As long as you can get the right one you are OK.

They make a nice display with the bipod--three point stance. Nice looking rig. Eventually you will get to try it out. When mine came it got to Cincinnati on Sunday which is 300 miles away. The next day it was in Salt lake City which was no closer than from where it started and according to the DHL rep it was stuck in a conveyor. It arrived I think Friday--10 or 11 days and in one piece which I did not expect after being told it was stuck.

Congratulations, Greg, looks great!  I see you opted for a bipod, I tried one with mine, but didn't like the extra weight.  Plus it always seemed to be in the way.  Guess it just didn't suit my style of shooting.  Can't tell what scope you have on there, but it looks good, and the TriRail was a good choice.  Wish I was closer, I'd get you started off right with a nitrogen fill :-).  Hang in there, pal, Monday's coming (probably too damn soon for some of us!).  Later.
